Touring the Green Mountain State Since 1986!
Greetings!

We had a great "Vermont Towns" tour August 27. See some photos below.

Plan now on the upcoming Green Mountain Porsche Club BBQ at the home of David Steinman and Arlene Diesenhouse in Waitsfield on Saturday, Sept. 21.
As Events Chair Duffy Miller notes below, David is a master car restorer and always graciously shows us around his huge car barn, regaling us with glories of restorations past. (Like Elvis's RR). Val and Rick Swinchoski will be doing the BBQ honors. Bring a side if you can. It's $5.00 at the door to defray costs of the burgers & dogs. See below for full details and for Arlene's RSVP email address.

Note that Treffen (German for "meeting" or "gathering") starts tomorrow, Sept. 3, in Woodstock. 120 or more cars and twice that number of members from around the country will be participating in four days of tours in Vermont. See note below from our president, Carl Wulfestieg.

We have several new members since the last newsletter and are now up to a record 180 members, up approximately 35 or 40 members in the past year to 18 months. Wow!

Bylaws

Y our Bylaws Subcommittee (Sandy Gilmour, Al Iuppa & Lou Krieg) along with the board have spent considerable time reviewing and revising the Green Mountain Region bylaws. The review was precipitated at the request of national PCA, who want the Region's bylaws to better align with National bylaws.  Please see below for a summary of the proposed revisions and a PDF copy of the proposed new bylaws . The proposed revised bylaws require a vote by a majority of authorized members present at the lunch meeting Oct. 5.  Please review these documents before the annual meeting. At the October 5th meeting the Board will be prepared to answer any questions you may have and you will be invited to propose any further bylaw changes prior to the final vote.

Upcoming Events:

October 5 - Saturday - Fall Leaf Tour presented by Pete and Ellen Arnold. Pete and Ellen always come up with a fantastic fall tour. Lunch and annual meeting TBA. At this meeting, members will vote on propose GMR PCA bylaw changes (see below).

Wheels in the Field - Chester. See below for details for BMW cyclists and Porsche drivers, but note that it conflicts with our Fall Tour and Annual Meeting date of Oct. 5. All GMR members are urged to attend our tour and especially the annual meeting lunch.

Holiday Party - Saturday, Dec. 7. This year the party will be held at the Capitol Plaza hotel in Montpelier. A number of rooms are blocked for those who would like to stay overnight at a reasonable just-over $100 plus tax etc. To book a room, call the hotel at 802-223-5252 and ask for the Green Mountain Porsche Holiday Party block. Must book by Nov. 7.

Message From the President
Carl Wulfestieg

The days are getting shorter and there is a chill in the air many evenings. We still have several events on the calendar, which should provide nice fall drives. The September picnic (September 21) is always a great time for all, and this year it will not include a tour. That shouldn’t prevent smaller groups from getting together for a self-guided tour to Waitsfield and the home of Arlene Diesenhoiuse and David Steinman. .

A major reason for this note is to thank all of you who volunteered to help with Treffen Vermont. Unfortunately, due to unexpected illness, I was not able to complete the task of organizing volunteers, and Mike Bryan (Zone 1 rep.) stepped in to help me out. He had a differing philosophy than I about how to best use volunteer help, and this resulted in a number of you not being asked to participate as volunteers. I am no less appreciative of those of you who did not receive assignments, than of the members who were asked. I think that it bodes well for the future of GMR that so many of you stepped up. Let’s build on the enthusiasm for this event by having many of you volunteer to help organize tours and other events for our growing club.

I hope to see you all at Arlene and David’s Saturday, September 21!

Remember it's not just the cars; it's the people!

Carl
New Bylaws for Green Mountain Region
Porsche Club of America

From Alessandro Iuppa, Bylaws Submmittee Chair:

As Sandy Gilmour notes above, we have spent considerable time reviewing and revising the bylaws for members' consideration. Here is a PDF copy of the proposed new bylaws, and here is a PDF summary of the revisions, explaining the changes. All members should diligently read the summary and the new bylaws and be prepared to given an informed vote at the annual meeting following the fall tour on Oct. 5.

Please email our treasurer, Christina McCaffrey , to request them for you and your spouse or partner, and she will try to get them for you in time for the next event. The cost is $15.00 per name tag.

From Events Chair Duffy Miller:

Green Mountain Club September Pot Luck BBQ
Saturday, September 21, 2019

Arlene Diesenhouse and David Steinman are hosting a pot luck picnic / BBQ at their home on Saturday, September 21, 2019. The pot luck/BBQ will start at 11:30 a.m. with a tour of David’s cars and “museum”, followed by the pot luck/BBQ around 1 p.m.

Members, new and old, will enjoy touring David’s museum of beautifully restored, award winning automobiles and classic wood boats. For new members not familiar with David’s work - David is an engineer, and has had a career restoring classic automobiles, many of which have won awards at shows nationally. His “museum” (which is a barn full of memorabilia, classic cars, and his machine shop, paint room, and repair/rebuilding facility) houses vehicles that can be admired, and a shop area where you can witness first hand some of the intricate work that is completed in the restoration process.

Members attending should plan to pay a $5 per person charge for the event - payment directly to Arlene when you arrive. The charge will cover meat (hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, etc). Members are also asked to bring a dish to share and what ever they would like to drink (beer, wine, soft drinks, etc); salads, desserts, and summer BBQ / picnic type fare are good sharing dishes. Arlene and David will have extra sodas and seltzer. Members are also asked to bring chairs (beach, camping type chairs) for extra seating. Rick and Val Swinchoski will be helping with the grilling duties - an extra “thanks” is extended to them for their support of this event.

Please RSVP directly to Arlene to let her know that you are coming, and the number of people that will attend with you. Arlene’s email is  adiesen47@gmail.com .

GPS Address is:

308 Butternut Hill Drive
Waitsfield, VT 05673

See you there!

About These Email Communications:

Replies to these GMT PCA emails come to me (Sandy Gilmour), not the entire membership; however, I can forward to President Carl Wulfestieg and other board members if needed. I always welcome any comments on any ways we can improve communications with GMT PCA members.

We welcome any submissions by members who have some fun experiences, photos, tech stuff and other adventures to share! Email me at sgilmour@comcast.net

Remember also, it's a volunteer organization. Any help you can provide -- especially with event planning -- is most appreciated by all!
