Touring the Green Mountain State Since 1986!
Greetings!

Treffen has come and gone for us in Woodstock (first week of September) and for a number of volunteers from here and other parts of Vermont. More than 120 cars and about twice as many PCA members from around the country. Some of us got to meet participants who seemed thrilled to be driving around the Green Mountain State. Scroll down for a few pictures, courtesy of Treffen volunteer Dave Kynor.

This coming Saturday, September 21, is the BBQ in Waitsfield at the home of Arlene Diesenhouse and David Steinman. See below for details.

The next big event is the Fall Foliage Tour and Annual Members Meeting. Scroll down for details. Please be diligent and read the proposed new bylaw changes for our Green Mountain Region Club, and be prepared to propose changes, and/or to vote aye or nay.

We have several new members since the last newsletter. We are growing. Some 20 new members this year by my count. See the welcome section below.

Message From the President
Carl Wulfestieg

I hope to see you all at Arlene and David’s tomorrow!

Please book now and let me know whether you will join on our great Fall Foliage Tour and Annual Meeting on Saturday, Oct. 5. Please read the bylaw changes which are provided in this edition of the Mountaineer and be prepared to give an informed vote.

Treffen Vermont was a huge success. The general opinion of all participants was that this was the best Treffen ever, and Green Mountain/Zone 1 set a very high bar for all future Treffen. I was stopped numerous times throughout the weekend by participants who reported enjoying the tours, and loving the great roads which we had selected. Thanks to all of you who volunteered. Tour leaders: Duffy Miller/Bernadette Cleland, David/Ann Kynor, Al Iuppa/Anne Valentine, Brad Kennison, Tour team members: Skip Wareham, Dave Whittall, Peter Chehayl, Rob and Betsy Wadsworth, Information Desk and other duties: Christina McCaffrey, Rick/Val Swinchoski, Dale/Kathy Kjerulff, Ralph Demasi/Wendy Starr, Susan Wulfestieg, Pete/Ellen Arnold, Robert/Mary Costella and Sandy/Karen Gilmour. In particular, thanks to Bob Costella who arrived early on Thursday and Friday mornings to get the tours lined up and sent off expeditiously. Thanks also to those of you who stepped up and were not asked to help out, your support is what makes this a great club.

Remember it's not just the cars; it's the people!

Carl
New Bylaws for Green Mountain Region
Porsche Club of America

From Alessandro Iuppa, Bylaws Subcommittee Chair:

Y our Bylaws Subcommittee (Sandy Gilmour, Al Iuppa & Lou Krieg) along with the board have spent considerable time reviewing and revising the Green Mountain Region bylaws. The review was precipitated at the request of national PCA, who want the Region's bylaws to better align with National bylaws.  Please see below for a summary of the proposed revisions and a PDF copy of the proposed new bylaws . The proposed revised bylaws require a vote by a majority of authorized members present at the lunch meeting Oct. 5.  Please review these documents before the annual meeting. At the October 5th meeting the Board will be prepared to answer any questions you may have and you will be invited to propose any further bylaw changes prior to the final vote.

Here is a PDF copy of the proposed new bylaws, and here is a PDF summary of the revisions, explaining the changes. Here is a copy of the current bylaws if you wish to compare old and proposed new if the summary does not provide you with enough detail.

All members should diligently read the summary and the new bylaws and be prepared to given an informed vote at the annual meeting following the fall tour on Oct. 5.

Fall Foliage Tour and Green Mountain Region
Members' Business Meeting

Saturday October 5

From Events Chair Duffy Miller:

Pete Arnold has put together another fantastic drive, which will start in central VT, and conclude at the Public House Restaurant in Quechee. The tour will be held on the morning of October 5th, and will conclude with the lunch and fall GMR Business Meeting. The route will take us through some small towns and less traveled roads in Vermont, and will offer participants some fantastic foliage views. Early October usually presents peak foliage in central Vermont, and this drive will offer participants an opportunity to enjoy the foliage and company of other GMR members.

Meeting location and times:
8:30 a.m. -- check in at Maplewoods / Irving Gas Stop - Berlin, VT - Right off Exit 7 in Berlin, VT

Drivers’ meeting at 8:45 a.m.

Tour starts at 9 a.m.

Mid-point Rest Stop
9:30-10:00ish Northwoods Cafe/Mobil Gas - Rest stop in Bradford;
Tour continues after the rest stop to finish at the Public House at Quechee Gorge, Quechee, arrival 11:45 a.m. to 12 noon.

Lunch and Meeting
Approximate arrival time at the Public House, 11:45 - 12:00. We'll have the annual members meeting and lunch, after which the event will conclude.

Members will order off the menu; there is no prior Motorsport registration for this one. Please RSVP to Carl Wulfestieg, [email protected].

Carl needs a count so the Public House has an idea of how many to expect.

See you then!

From Events Chair Duffy Miller:

Green Mountain Club September Pot Luck BBQ
Saturday, September 21, 2019

Arlene Diesenhouse and David Steinman are hosting a pot luck picnic / BBQ at their home on Saturday, September 21, 2019. The pot luck/BBQ will start at 11:30 a.m. with a tour of David’s cars and “museum”, followed by the pot luck/BBQ around 1 p.m.

Members, new and old, will enjoy touring David’s museum of beautifully restored, award winning automobiles and classic wood boats. For new members not familiar with David’s work - David is an engineer, and has had a career restoring classic automobiles, many of which have won awards at shows nationally. His “museum” (which is a barn full of memorabilia, classic cars, and his machine shop, paint room, and repair/rebuilding facility) houses vehicles that can be admired, and a shop area where you can witness first hand some of the intricate work that is completed in the restoration process.

Members attending should plan to pay a $5 per person charge for the event - payment directly to Arlene when you arrive. The charge will cover meat (hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, etc). Members are also asked to bring a dish to share and what ever they would like to drink (beer, wine, soft drinks, etc); salads, desserts, and summer BBQ / picnic type fare are good sharing dishes. Arlene and David will have extra sodas and seltzer. Members are also asked to bring chairs (beach, camping type chairs) for extra seating. Rick and Val Swinchoski will be helping with the grilling duties - an extra “thanks” is extended to them for their support of this event.

Please RSVP directly to Arlene to let her know that you are coming, and the number of people that will attend with you. Arlene’s email is  [email protected] .

GPS Address is:

308 Butternut Hill Drive
Waitsfield, VT 05673

See you there!

About These Email Communications:

Replies to these GMT PCA emails come to me (Sandy Gilmour), not the entire membership; however, I can forward to President Carl Wulfestieg and other board members if needed. I always welcome any comments on any ways we can improve communications with GMT PCA members.

We welcome any submissions by members who have some fun experiences, photos, tech stuff and other adventures to share! Email me at [email protected]

Remember also, it's a volunteer organization. Any help you can provide -- especially with event planning -- is most appreciated by all!
