Summer 2026 Newsletter

Dear Members, Friends, and Supporters,

We hope your summer is off to a wonderful start!

In this summer update, we share new BBS appointments, both upcoming and recent community events, and a relief case that reflects the heart of our mission—urgent aid for a British national in need.

We are also running a membership survey this month. Please share your views in this quick 1-minute anonymous survey so we can improve the member experience, plan future events, and connect with you in your preferred way.

Warm regards,

The BBS President

New Appointments at BBS

BBS is delighted to announce two recent appointments that mark an exciting new chapter for the Society: Julia Schieffer as Executive Director and Sandro Monetti to the Board of Directors.

As Executive Director, Julia will work closely with the Board to advance BBS’s mission, strengthen fundraising and community engagement, and support British nationals and their families throughout California and the Western States. She brings more than 15+ years of leadership experience across nonprofit and business settings, with a background in strategy, marketing, growth, financial management, and partnership building.

Sandro Monetti joins the Board as a leading voice in the British community in Los Angeles. An award-winning broadcaster, producer, and reputation management consultant, Sandro will help BBS grow its LA membership base, strengthen community engagement, and expand support across California and the Western States.

New July Event:

Happy Hour at The Spinnaker

Join us on Monday, July 13 for a new BBS Happy Hour at The Spinnaker in Sausalito.

The $20 fee is considered a charitable donation, helping BBS continue to provide financial relief to British individuals in need. We hope you will join us for an evening of connection, conversation, and community.

Relief Case:

Supporting a Bay Area Local Through Illness

One notable relief case this summer involves a Bay Area local facing a cancer diagnosis, mounting medical bills, and the loss of work during treatment. BBS is grateful to be able to offer support during this difficult time, helping ease financial pressure so she can focus on healing and her family.

This is the heart of BBS’s mission: providing compassionate and urgent assistance when British nationals need it most.

Recent Event:

World Cup Viewing Party in Santa Monica

In mid-June, over 100 BBS members and guests gathered in Santa Monica to watch England’s first World Cup game. The event brought the community together, raised funds to support ongoing relief cases, and helped boost BBS membership in LA.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, and helped make the event such a success. We are especially grateful to the new members who have joined BBS as we continue to grow our Southern California community.
