Responding to HPAI
As the wild bird migration tapers off, so has the confirmed cases of HPAI across the province during the holiday season — good news for the New Year!
Since mid October, BC has 37 confirmed HPAI Infected Premises — significantly less than this time last year. Also, there have been no new confirmed IPs for two weeks (since December 19).
Fraser Valley Primary Control Zones 1 to 10 are activated as Security Zones or Infected Zones. PCZ 11 was revoked on December 18.
If you have questions or concerns about what to do in the face of an emergency or infection, please reach out:

Food Safety Practice Funding
IAF is happy to share the funding opportunity (various $ amounts) via the Food Safety Program (FSP) funding provided by the Governments of Canada and British Columbia through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative.
The FSP seeks to increase adoption of new or improve existing food safety practices and systems by on-farm and post-farm businesses to enable the BC agrifood sector to meet existing and new national and international food safety regulatory requirements.

Temporary Changes to Under- and Over- Marketing Sleeves
EFFECTIVE A-199, A-200, A-201
The board acknowledges the challenges regarding hatching egg and chick supply due to the HPAI outbreak and other natural events. More specifically, if shortages occur, there is no direct compensation for this complication.
The Board is actively working with industry stakeholders to find solutions.
To provide some relief, the Board is implementing temporary changes to the Under- and Over- Marketing levies. These will stand as temporary amendments to the General Orders for Period A-199, A-200, and A-201.
(We are currently in A-199, which is Nov 16,2025 - Jan 10, 2026)
