Young Farmers of Canada Program

OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS

Would you or someone you know want to participate in the CFC’s Young Farmers Program (YFP) for the 2026-2027 season? This is a unique opportunity for farmers aged 18-40 years. Participants enjoy special events, education on policy, networking with experts, travel to Ottawa, and more.

A webinar is being hosted, where anyone interested in the program can learn more, ask questions, and get excited about the opportunity.

Our national office would like to remind you about some important tips and processes. The CFC’s biosecurity and pathogen reduction content are worth reviewing. For instance, the glo-germ video is a great biosecurity reminder in the Autumn and Spring.

Broiler Barns...are for Broilers Only

Your barns are registered to grow broiler chickens, only (General Orders Parts 3 and 33). Before using your barn space for anything else—including other chicken varieties—you must notify the Board and deregister your barn(s).

Contact your field service reps (auditors) with your questions, to give an update on your barn, or for steps to deregister.

"Your Farm, Your Biosecurity"

All services and visitors to your farm should follow strict biosecurity practices. Set clear expectations and ensure standards are followed, particularly by crews during chick placement and live haul.

This can be as easy as communicating expectations in advance, clear and bold signage, and being present with all visitors.
