HPAI Vaccination FAQ

Growers like you are asking about vaccination for HPAI in Canada – what’s available, why we cannot vaccinate now, and

where we are in the process.

The National Poultry Group, with review from CFIA, put together a question-and-answer document to explain more.

Young Farmers of Canada — Application Opens

You’re invited to participate in the CFC’s Young Farmers Program (YFP) for the 2026-2027 season.

This is a unique opportunity for farmers aged 18-40 years. Over 18 months, participants gain valuable exposure to all-things-chicken farming, including special events, policy, networking with experts, travel to Ottawa, and more.

“The [YFP] has enabled me to take a deep dive into many aspects of the chicken industry in Canada, network with partners and stakeholders, and build friendships that will last a lifetime. I hope to take this opportunity …[to] further impact the future of chicken farming in BC.” – Matthew Burgsma, Young Farmer Alum, BC.

Is this for you or someone you know? Read more and

apply directly on the Young Farmers Program webpage.

Most costs are funded by the CFC. Application closes November 3.

Under and Over Marketing Temporary Changes – Closed

In June 2025, the BCCMB announced revised temporary changes to Under and Over Marketing Sleeves, in response to a shortage in chick supply. This was in effect until the end of A-197 (Sept 20) to provide some relief and allow the industry to stabilize.

Beginning A-198 (Sept 21) normal policy resumes:

  • Under marketing carryforward adjustment returns to 6%.
  • Over marketing adjustments (General Orders sections 27.2 and 27.6) are no longer suspended.

See General Orders here
