HOWDY AND…WOW!!!

What a way to kick off the first quarter of FY2020! The Michelle Lynn Holsey Benefit and Cutting Horse Competition continues to grow each year which makes a huge contribution to our community in many ways. The event used 360 stalls per day, up from 260 last year and the week long show culminates on Saturday night with a banquet and live auction benefiting the foundation.

Behind the Scenes

The first quarter of 2020 kept the Expo busy with many exciting events. The Michelle Lynn Holsey Gala and Cutting, the Southern Classic Livesotck Show and the annual SWEMA Conference, just to name a few! Now that springtime is near, be sure to check out the Expo's full calendar of events. Fundraisers and rodeos top the schedule!

The 97th Annual SWEMA, was held in October at the Expo. The annual SWEMA Texas Meter School attracts metering professionals from across the United States and is the leading program of its kind. SWEMA manages this week-long program in partnership with utilities, equipment manufacturers and suppliers. Attendees from across the US converge on the B/CS community during this week-long event.

Did you know the Expo is host to several different Rodeo Association events? Throughout the year, the Expo hosts the Region 9 High School Rodeos, the Junior High School Rodeos, the Central Texas Youth Rodeos and the Youth Rodeos of Texas. Be sure to check the calendar and come check them out. There is no ticket required to watch!

It happens every year, just before Thanksgiving, and it's something very special. The B/CS Chamber of Commerce Annual Ag Breakfast is a can't miss event. This event brings the farmers and ranchers of the Brazos Valley together with the business community to celebrate the importance of agriculture in our everyday activities. We are always thankful for the hard work of our farmers and ranchers who provide for us everyday!

BRAZOS VALLEY FAIR & RODEO

2019 was a tremendous year for the Expo and the eighth annual Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo was no exception. New to the event this year was a Tractor Pull held on October 13th that added a Kick-off Weekend to the event.

Overall attendance was strong with over 16,000 people in attendance throughout the duration of the event. Competitions included a newly added Weld-Off event for High School students and a Steak Cook-Off. The well-attended livestock shows were tremendous with over $15,000 in scholarships awarded. Three nightly concerts and exciting rodeo action continue to be a cornerstone of the event. Be sure to put the 2020 Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo on your calendar, October 17-18 & 23-25, 2020!
