Hockey Canada finalized its roster on Tuesday following a five (5) day selection camp that saw 44 players participate in on and off-ice sessions, including three (3) intra-squad games at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, AB.
Canada will face off against Slovakia in pre-tournament action on Saturday, August 3, 2019 in Piestany before moving to Breclav, where the team opens the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup against Finland on Monday, August 5, 2019. All Team Canada games will be broadcast by TSN and RDS.
In 2018, the tournament was re-branded as the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and co-hosted by Edmonton and Red Deer. Canada captured back-to-back gold in 2018, after defeating Sweden 6-2.
Canada has won gold 22 times in 28 years of the summer under-18 competition, along with two (2) silver medals and one (1) bronze.
