BC News & Highlights
April 2021 Edition
Studio BC Launches at Bloom-Carroll High School
A new club at BCHS launched this month called Studio BC. This club has been designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop public speaking, videography, and interviewing skills needed to run a news broadcast. Studio BC team members are preparing videos each week for the morning announcements that will be aired on Fridays.

Studio BC has been launched to promote two new electives coming to BCHS this fall: Introduction to Broadcasting and Advanced Broadcasting. To check out Studio BC's introductory video clip for the morning announcement segment, click here.
Hidden Figures Project at BCMS
Sixth grade ELA students in Mr. Johns' and Mrs. Conrad’s class recently read the novel Hidden Figures by Margot Shetterly and completed Project-Based Learning (PBL) activities on the Hidden Figures they researched in class. A 'Hidden Figure' is someone whose accomplishments are largely unknown or unrecognized, in part to race or gender.

Following their research, students created a google slide presentation that showcased the Hidden Figures' accomplishments and backgrounds. Students also wrote a letter to the Hidden Figure Society trying to persuade the society to add their Hidden Figure as a member. Towards the end of the unit, students created 3D models that represent their Hidden Figures’ accomplishments and presented their slide shows and 3D models in class to their classmates.
K-4 Students Jump Rope for the American Heart Association
Students in Mr. Casperson's K-4 gym classes recently participated in the American Heart Association's "Jump Rope for Heart" campaign.

This program encourages students to have a positive attitude towards exercise and heathy eating. BC students reached new levels in gym class this year while raising money to support the American Heart Association and learning how to live a healthier lifestyle.
