Dear TIABC Members

The provincial government has called an election, and British Columbians will vote on Saturday, October 24, 2026. This is an important opportunity to ensure candidates understand what it takes to build a strong, resilient visitor economy and the provincial decisions that affect tourism businesses, workers and communities.

To support your participation, TIABC has created the 2026 Provincial Election Toolkit. This practical, non-partisan resource brings together tourism’s economic contribution, our key policy priorities and questions you can use in candidate meetings, business visits, community forums and written correspondence.

The toolkit also connects these conversations to the Province’s Look West Tourism Sector Action Plan. Achieving its ambitions will require sustained investment, a prepared workforce, reliable transportation and coordinated decisions across government. Candidates should be ready to explain what they will support, how they will deliver it and how progress will be measured.

We encourage you to review the toolkit, identify the priorities most relevant to your business or community and reach out to your local candidates. Bring a specific example. A position you cannot fill because housing is unavailable, or bookings lost because a transportation connection is unreliable, can make the consequences of provincial policy clear.

TIABC will continue advancing the sector’s priorities provincially. Your conversations help reinforce that work locally, so those elected understand both the value of tourism and the actions needed to strengthen it.

Please share the toolkit with your tourism partners and keep us informed of the commitments and concerns emerging from your discussions. Together, we can help turn campaign conversations into practical results for BC’s visitor economy.

Warm regards,

Amber Papou, B.Ed MBA ICD.D
