School and Child Care will be closed on Good Friday, Apr. 2 and Easter Monday,
Apr. 5.

The great gift of Easter is hope - Christian hope which makes us have that confidence in God, in His ultimate triumph, and in His goodness and love, which nothing can shake.

We wish a Blessed Easter to each of our BCA families!

Chapel

Our next chapel service will be Wed., Apr. 14. This service will be led by Pastor Sheets of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Chapel offerings for the fourth quarter will go to Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) World Relief Fund and Human Care.

Mercy Work/Christ’s mandate and example of love — the Gospel for the whole person — is the supreme example for our life in this world as we care for our neighbor in body and soul. In tangible ways, at home and abroad, the LCMS continues to bear Christ’s mercy in word and deed. It’s at the very heart of every LCMS World Relief and Human Care gift.
We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to the following students and faculty:

4/2 – Lexi Freeman (7th)
4/3 – August Fullerton (1st)
4/3 – Ann Bolden (Kindergarten Teacher)
4/4 – Harper Woodrow (6th)

IOWA Testing Week

IOWA Testing for 1st - 8th grades will be April 12 - 16.

About the Iowa Assessments

The Iowa Assessments help determine how students are performing on nationwide standards. It will measure achievement in several important content areas including Reading, Writing Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

The tests help teachers identify a student’s strengths and areas that may need additional emphasis. The Iowa Assessments also measure student growth and progress in the content areas assessed from year to year. The assessments enable sound decision making and provides a focus for teachers to evaluate instruction.

Each test includes sample questions to help students become familiar with the content and format of the tests. Samples help students understand what to do—how to mark answers and move from question to question. All test questions are multiple choice, and the tests last about 10 to 45 minutes.

How your child can prepare for test taking—and what you can do to help
A student who is well rested and well fed and has a positive attitude about testing is best prepared for testing. You can help your child do his or her best by considering these tips:

  • Make sure that your child is in school and on time on test days.
  • Please do not schedule dental or doctor appointments during the school day for this week.
  • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing.
  • Remind your child that these tests are only one measure of what he or she has learned.
  • Emphasize that you have confidence in his or her ability to do the best job possible.
  • Remind your child to listen to the directions and read each question carefully during testing.
  • Encourage your child to ask the teacher for help if he or she does not understand the directions.

Score reporting and how we use test results

The school will receive test scores in about 6-8 weeks and parents will receive an individual student score report for the Iowa Assessments. These scores will indicate how your child performed on the tests compared with students across the nation in the same grade.
Thank you very much for encouraging and supporting your child during testing.
