BCA News

Aug. 28, 2026

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God –

not by works, so that no one can boast.

For we are God’s handiwork,

created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in

advance for us to do.

Parking Reminder

Parents, as you are dropping off and/or picking up your student, we ask that you you please stay in your vehicle during pick up and drop off times and continue moving through the car line.

We have noticed that parents are getting out of their car during this time to speak with their child's teacher. In an effort to keep the car line moving efficiently around 8 a.m. and 3:20, we need family members to remain in the car.

If you need to speak to a teacher, please message them on Class Dojo or schedule a meeting for another time.

Thank you for helping our daily entry and exits from the front parking lot run smoothly.

Homeroom Parent Meeting

Sept. 3

6 p.m.

Library Conference Room

Homeroom parents for K - 8th, please join Sandy Melton, PTL President, and our BCA PTL Board members to discuss homeroom parent duties.

Parents interested in learning more about homeroom parent duties for the future are also encouraged to attend.

For more information, please text Sandy Melton - 423-653-3304.

Chapel

Chapel service on Wed., Sept. 2 will be led by Pastor Heinz of Athens Lutheran Church.

Families are always welcome to attend chapel with their student!

Our first quarter chapel offerings will go to the Lutheran Heritage Foundation.

For the Sept. 23 chapel, a representative from this organization will offer a presentation to the students so that they can learn more on how their chapel offerings will benefit.

Chapel Buddies are back!

We're so excited to bring back "Chapel Buddies"! It's been a few years since we've paired our older students with younger students on Wednesdays to act as a friend and guide to and from chapel. BCA had this tradition for many years, and we're glad students are excited to once again have this opportunity to build more friendships!

Blue Jean $ Day

Fri., Sept. 4

Blue Jean days will be held the FIRST Friday of each month for this school year.

Proceeds from our Blue Jean $ Fridays this quarter will also benefit the Lutheran Heritage Foundation.

Students who bring in at least $1 may wear blue jeans with their BCA Friday shirt or regular dresscode top.

Picture Re-Take Day

Sept. 4

Students who missed the fall picture day earlier this month may have their picture taken Fri., Sept. 4.

They may wear blue jeans to participate in the Blue Jean $ Day, but must wear a regular dresscode top (not a BCA Friday shirt) if they are having their picture re-taken.

Congratulations to the First Whopping Acts of ROAR Recipient for 2026-2027!

Libby Hamilton, fifth grade, was recognized during chapel this Wednesday for demonstrating all aspects of ROAR!

"It is often hard for students to adjust to having a substitute teacher in their classroom, especially after less than one full week of school; but I was very impressed with a particular student who stepped up when just such an opportunity arose.

This student showed RESPECT in paying special attention to the substitute, and following directions as soon as they were given. She also demonstrated OPTIMISM by thinking positively about a situation that usually doesn't happen until later in the school year. Learning new routines, new rules, and new ways of doing things can be a challenge - but this student was optimistic about the change and led with the best foot forward. And finally, ACCOUNTABILITY and RESPONSIBILITY were shown when this student stepped in to help if the substitute had any questions or concerns, and did it in a joyful way.

I am very proud of this student and the leadership that she has already shown within the first couple weeks of a new school year!

Well done, good and faithful servant, Libby Hamilton." - Mrs. McCall

We wish a very Happy Birthday to the following students!

8/28 - E'Mari Byrdsong (Pre-K2)

8/31 - Gianna Coughran (Pre-K3)

9/1 - Oliver Ramirez (Pre-K4)

Ice Cream Truck Day

Ice Cream Truck Day for K - 8th was a huge hit yesterday! This was the first time to have Sweet Treats here to serve some amazing cool treats for our K - 8th kiddos!

Thank you, Ms. Sandy, PTL President, and all of the volunteers who helped them choose from the menu and manage payments! It went super smoothly and everyone loved the delicious ice cream and popsicles! Thank you, Sweet Treats, for visiting BCA!

Next Ice Cream Truck Visit

Sept. 24

Each month, on the same day that our teachers are treated to their "Gift of Time", we will also host an Ice Cream Truck visit to allow students to purchase special ice cream treats during their lunch period.

PTL volunteers will once again monitor the students in the cafeteria to allow teachers to enjoy the catered lunch that the volunteers also provide. During lunch, students will be able to visit the truck in the front parking lot to purchase their ice cream.

For details on pricing and cash payment, please see the ORDER FORM.

PTL Gift of Time

The first “Gift of Time” for the new school year was held yesterday! Thank you, Ms. Sandy, PTL President, for organizing the catered lunch from The Brown Bag for the faculty and staff, as well as the volunteers who monitored the students during lunch to allow them to enjoy the amazing lunch in the conference room!

We also thank BCA Board member, Ms. Konnie, for the desserts to accompany the meal as well as to celebrate the August birthdays for our faculty and staff. She made Italian Cream cake, lemon bars and chocolate cupcakes! Delicious!
