Get the Couch Potatoes into Your Center
by Steve Cieslewicz, BCAW President
Hello Everyone,

January is upon us. Here we all sit. Christmas was exhausting. Buying presents for everyone, holiday parties to run and attend. Property taxes are due at the end of the month. This is when the general public tends to bunker down in front of their televisions for a couple months until they can get caught up on their bills and the weather starts to turn nice.

How do we get these people into our centers? But the couch is comfy and I don't have to go outside. Promotions of course! The Packers are on their Super Bowl run. The Badgers just won the Cotton Bowl and Badger basketball is in full swing. Milwaukee Bucks, NASCAR - there are many sports themed promos we can do to drive traffic into your center. We just have to be a little creative so we're not the same as the place down the road.

Other ways to drive traffic are:
  • The Wisconsin Adult-Youth Scholarship Tournament. In-house qualifying started November 1 and runs through March 13, 2017 with state finals at Lincoln Lanes in Merrill, April 1& 2, 8 & 9.
  • MillerCoors NFL have a ball league (see more information below).
  • A Top 24 or 32 Tournament. Use the highest averages in the house so far this year? You could do men & women winners? A Scotch Doubles One Day Tournament?
In the end, it's all about doing promos, changing things up, keeping it fresh and keeping people interested.

Let's Make 2017 A Profitable One!!!

The MillerCoors NFL Ball League is a program designed to introduce folks to the fun of bowling with friends.  The MillerCoors NFL Ball leagues will bowl for 8-13 weeks.  At the end of the league, each bowler will receive their very own Green Bay Packers bowling ball.

At participating centers, MillerCoors NFL Ball League champions will be eligible to participate in the MillerCoors Wisconsin State Singles Tournament the weekend of April 29 & 30, 2017!  Thanks to added sponsorship money from MillerCoors, based on 40 entries at the state finals, a prize fund of $3,000 will be offered.

All bowlers making it to the state finals event will receive an "on the spot " cash payout of $20 at check-in.  All other cash prizes will be based on a 1:5 ratio, with first place being $450 (again, based on 40 entries).

The state finals tournament will be a singles, pins over average type event, benefiting bowlers of all averages and skill!  Because the state finals event is a singles tournament, your league's format will determine how many bowlers will qualify to this special event.  MillerCoors NFL Ball Leagues may be comprised of doubles (2 bowlers), trios (3 bowlers) or quads (4 bowlers).

We encourage all BCAW members to run a short season MillerCoors NFL Ball League!    For for more information, contact Bob Maki at the BCAW Office.

MillerCoors Raising a Glass to BCAW with
New Beers and Marketing Programs

As we announced in December, MillerCoors is rolling out a partnership with Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin (BCAW). Through this partnership, MillerCoors will use tournaments, new brands, and the "Building with Beer" platform to drive sales and revenue for BCAW member bowling centers. In addition, in 2017 MillerCoors will be able to offer unique programs with several alliance partners, including the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks and Summerfest. All BCAW members can opt into these alliance programs and execute at their respective establishments. Click here  for details and an activation guide with instructions on how to participate in the upcoming first annual MillerCoors Wisconsin State Singles Tournament. Prize money will be awarded and BCAW still needs a host center for the finals! Click here if your are interested in hosting.  Responses are due by January 16, 2017.  As a reminder, distributors can support any center level promotions using local POS pieces (based on state laws).

MillerCoors is always innovating and adding new, great brands to the portfolio and this month we are introducing Henry's Hard Grape Soda, a flavor extension from our Henry's Hard Orange, Ginger Ale, and Cola lineup. In addition, MillerCoors will roll out a new Henry's Sparkling line up, including Lemon Lime and Passion Fruit. The Redd's family is making some changes as well, including Raspberry and Blueberry as year round brands, replacing Strawberry.

The biggest beer news for 2017 is the 150th anniversary celebration of Wisconsin's own Leinenkugel's. MillerCoors and the Leinenkugel family will be celebrating in a huge way with plans all year long. Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company is very excited to be celebrating 150 years. One of the ways Leinie's will celebrate is with the release of a collaboration beer, Leinenkugel's Anniversary Lager, with the historic Hofbräu Brewery in Munich Germany. The beer is brewed in the spirit of the German beer purity law. This German-style amber bier incorporates imported, German malts with unique American hops to create a beer that is flavorful, balanced, and refreshing. Be on the lookout for this special brew along with all of our other new releases. Local distributors will have all information once available to order and be able to support with POS as always (based on state laws).
