Let's Go Bowling!
Greetings from BCAW
by Erik Gialdella, BCAW President
First off, I want to thank you for my re-election as President of the BCAW. I look forward to serving our members along with a great group of board members which will include two new board members. Larry Kauppi and Dan Patterson have joined our board. They are replacing Matt Beyer and Mary Conklin, and I would like to thank Matt and Mary for their time serving the BCAW. We also have one opening on the board. If you are interested in serving, please reach out to the BCAW office, any board member, or myself. You can always find a list of our BCAW Board of Directors on the BCAW website.

I want to take a moment to give a shout out to our office team at BCAW. Yvonne, Sandy, Roger, and Julie have been continuing to bring our members information, opportunity, and education to provide ways to boost revenue and staying engaged with our guests and team members. They have been busy working on, and with districts, for the upcoming High School and Middle School Bowling Club season. We want our members and districts to be able to provide a safe and effective way to allow our student athletes an opportunity to compete in their sport this year. While we understand there are challenges to this, I believe that our hosting centers along with our district volunteers can produce plans that can allow the matches to happen during this pandemic. The office has also been busy working on ways to bring programming and educational opportunities to you. If you are not seeing emails from the BCAW, please reach out to the office to verify your email address or check your spam folder.

There are some other great things happening for bowling centers that are coming out of BPAA and Strike Ten Entertainment (STE). If you haven't heard, there will still be a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year. It will look a lot different and floats had to be scaled back however we will still get our Go Bowling float in the parade. I believe the television ratings for this year's parade will be at one of the highest it has ever been since more people will be staying home this year. STE has launched a Go Bowling America Have-A-Ball League. It provides the participants with a performance ball instead of the typical plastic ball that you would normally receive in a Have-A-Ball program. STE is the marketing arm of the BPAA and has its own website. They have some really good content on it for our members to use including a Social Media Content Bank. Check out their website here: www.stemarketing.com

Where do we go from here? This is the ultimate question. I sit here and write this on election day. What will this country look like tomorrow? Next week? A month from now? I know for certain that people are seeking something. Seeking an identity, a place of belonging, a place to come together. We have the ability to be voices in our community and offer safe, clean, entertaining facilities to bring our communities together. While business may be significantly less than what we have seen in the past, we have the opportunity right now to make an impact on our future. Look for ways to get involved in your community and connect with the people there. You will reap the rewards of what you sow. I look forward to hearing about ways that our BCAW members where able to use community relations to bring guests together in their centers. As we look to what our future may be, keep in mind that we are all in this together. We will be looking at ways to continue BCAW Peer2Peer Zoom networking meetings to share ideas, frustrations, challenges, and promote coming together to help each other. Look for more information on these meetings coming soon.

Special Award

In 2016 BCAW created the "BCAW Award of Excellence" to recognize contributions to BCAW and bowling throughout Wisconsin.  Those honored are selected annually from nominations submitted to BCAW for consideration.  The nine-point criteria for this award focuses on demonstrated results in helping to grow bowling not only in their center but in their community and the state.

BCAW is committed to recognizing outstanding contributions to the bowling industry in Wisconsin with equal opportunity for this award without regard to the size of the bowling center they are affiliated with.  To that end, the goal is to have two "BCAW Award of Excellence" honorees each year based on center size; 12 lanes and fewer and over 12 lanes.

BPAA Partners With US FOODS
Rebates From an Additional Food Distributor

In an answer to centers seeking rebates and additional cost savings in their food and beverage operations, BPAA has partnered with US Foods® as an additional distributor. While SYSCO Foods will remain the program of choice for contract pricing, this new partnership with US Foods will help centers navigate the complex food market in a time when you should not be on your own.

To request a visit from a US Foods sales representative, email Amy Arcuri at amy@bpaa.com or call 817-385-8430.

If you are already a US Foods customer and wish to join the BPAA rebate program, simply complete this joiner form and send back to amy@bpaa.com.

The program is for REBATES ONLY. Bowling centers are responsible for their own pricing.
Centers can earn up to 6% rebates on US Foods Exclusive Brands and items from food partners.
Centers must sign a joiner form so that BPAA can bill food suppliers on their behalf.
