Let's Go Bowling!
Don't Get Stale ~ Be Proactive
by Erik Gialdella, BCAW President
Fall is often referred to as the season of change. Our landscape outside changes drastically during these months as we go from bright vibrant colors to a cold, dark, stale winter.

The same thing can happen in our business environment as well. Often times, we are so excited for the start of the bowling season as we are with the start of the fall colors changing. Once the joy of the start of the season wears off, we often get into too much of a routine and get stale. The BCAW has invested in keeping us from getting stale by purchasing the BPAA's on-line education program. Now that the primary league season has hit full swing let's get prepared to have our best season ever by utilizing our on-line training to educate our self and our staff and reward our guests with a great experience.

We often don't take the time needed to figure out how to increase our revenue. Take some time out of each day and work towards filling the revenue gaps that you have in your center. For those of you that have enough staff, utilizing a team meeting environment can be very helpful and may be just what's needed to get their creativity noticed and possibly bring you a nice revenue stream during a slower period of time. If you are lucky enough, let a team leader pick a group of people to lead the development and marketing of the new program and really get your team engaged in making this "their" idea and see how far they can take it. It's a great way to grow their business mindset and give them a feeling of belonging.

Take some time to check out the BPAA's on-line training program. This past September I ran into a Hall-of-Fame bowler who operates a couple bowling centers. He said for 25 years he thought he knew everything about this business...until he started to get involved with the BPAA and its training courses. It was a life saver for him and can be for many of us as well! If we sit back and do nothing, we cannot expect something.

We must be proactive in our business models in order to make revenue grow. Our team members are powerful people who interact with our guests on a daily basis, help them feel like a bigger part of the picture and watch your profits begin to soar!
