Bowling pins falling down from a strike in ten-pin bowling.
Let's Go Bowling!
Greetings from BCAW
by Erik Gialdella, BCAW President

We live in a world that changes constantly. Technology, clothing trends, pricing, color schemes, and...bowling rules and regulations.

Yes, we are in a time of change and like all who survive the changes of our cultures and our world, those that become educated and correctly implement the changes tend to succeed faster than the rest.

Changes to pro shop, youth certification, and volunteer rules and regulations have made significant buzz in our industry! To provide our league bowlers with the best possible experience, it's crucial we research and educate ourselves on what these changes mean and how they could potentially change the way we structure our future business model.

An amazing benefit of belonging to an association is that they do most of the work for us! We recently just finished up the first step of a strategic planning session as part of our Seeing 2020 and Beyond. It's a wonderful time to be part of the BCAW and we have an opportunity coming up to hear about some of the changes happening in our business at our BCAW Annual Meeting, Awards Luncheon & Trade Show on Monday October 14 which will be at the KI Convention Center next to the Hyatt Regency Green Bay. Registration and schedule information is available on the BCAW website at bowlwi.com.

The two key presentations that will happen on Monday afternoon are: USBC Youth Age Change  with Gary Brown, IBC Youth Managing Director and Lane Maintenance for a New Decade with Don Agent, Kegel. Best of all, our BCAW members can attend the Annual Meeting portion (10 a.m. - 12 p.m.) for FREE, just sign up online or call the office.

I know this is always such a hectic time of year however, I hope that you're as excited as I am for a new bowling season to be upon us! I encourage you and any staff you may have to make this the best season you have ever had by building strong relationships with the people in your community while providing a place of fun and enjoyment for all that visit! Best of luck to everyone this year!

Roger Dalkin Joins BCAW Staff

Roger came out of retirement to join the BCAW staff in September 2019 in a newly created part-time position as program manager.

He will work between 15 and 20 hours per week during the HS/MS bowling season and "as needed" throughout the rest of the year.  "Roger will bring his vast tournament experience  to our on-site tournament management team at our HS & MS state tournament events, as well as the WI Pepsi USBC Tournament." remarked Bennett.  "As a past district coordinator and varsity coach in the WI HSBC, he is uniquely qualified to administer and help lead these programs into the future."

Roger and his wife Karen still live in Greendale, the Milwaukee suburb that once was the home to Bowling Headquarters where Roger was the first CEO of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC).

A member of the USBC Hall of Fame Class of 2008 for meritorious service, we are fortunate to have his experience, skills and passion on our team.
