RE: Grandfathered BCBS Policy Rate Adjustment - Your BlueCross policy is one of the older policies also known as a "Legacy" policy. As with all health insurance policies, the premium goes up across the board for everyone in SC once a year and can get an age related increase as well. Reason for the increase is claim history for past year for everyone in the SC block of business and also expected healthcare costs(inflation). The SC Department of Ins approves any increase. February 1st was the recent adjustment.

Household Size and Income can allow for a subsidy to reduce the premium on a new plan. In some instances even without being eligible for a subsidy, the premium is lower. I can quickly tell you what a new plan premium would be.
