CHAMBER CHAT - Week of May 3
I'm late this week - following a busy couple of weeks! We hope everyone that joined us for the President's Dinner had a great time (it certainly felt tropical!) and if you weren't able to be there, many thanks to Bill Glisky for being our resident photographer around the event and to Jeff Evoy from Japan Camera for capturing our photo booth moments! Links below will take you to the stories of our recipients and the photos captured during the event. YourTV was also on hand to record the presentations and as soon as we have that, we'll share it as well.

Your President, Anthony Callaghan, experienced his first OCC AGM & Conference along with me and Lisa and chambers from across Ontario. We were successful in supporting those resolutions important to our region and successfully helped defeat the one resolution that presented challenges to rural community colleges. Your Board has become increasingly involved in discussions around advocacy - always a passion of Peter Kempenaar's and we have really appreciated Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan's input regarding issues that are impacting community colleges. The Government affairs committee is now looking forward to hosting the election debate on May 19 and our candidate's breakfast on May 25. If you have questions or issues of concern for the candidates, we will be opening a portal for these submissions early next week. Please watch for this link in your email on Monday.
We hosted the Mayor's State of the City address last Wednesday and then this week, it was my pleasure to be included in a few of the Lahr delegation events, including a wonderful lunch hosted by Loyalist College yesterday. Hearing of the major plans they've got going on, if you went to Loyalist - you aren't going to recognize it when they're done!
Kevin McCaughen
from Sigma Stretch Film received his recognition award for service to the Chamber board for five years.

Although Kevin was unable to join in the presentations at the President's Dinner, Past-President Peter Kempenaar delivered his award personally.
Check out our YOUTUBE CHANNEL for slideshows from the photo booth, presentations and we even got some candid shots early in the evening.
