We had a great conversation with our MP Neil Ellis this week; I want to thank those who joined the call...

If you missed it - we've now posted it for your viewing and listening pleasure...

Key questions regarding the Canada Summer Jobs program gave us these answers:

the program will not be accepting new applications because they are regularly oversubscribed; for those applicants that will not be able to hire as expected, other applications may be moved into an approval status. You should be hearing soon or contact the MP's office to find out if your application was approved.

We are also still awaiting the announcement for the Regional Rural Economic fund and after a quick call with the Deputy Minister for Federal Development, I understand this announcement should be coming soon. We'll look forward to a conversation with Amber Darling from Trenval to discuss the applications to this fund once it has been outlined.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Next week, we will introduce Chamber Chat LIVE and for our first "event" we welcome back the Templeman panel to join us in a meeting format to address questions you might have about employment/re-employment/re-opening compliance concerns.

If you have a question you'd like us to put on the list in advance, email me at [email protected] . There is limited "seating" so please be sure to register. For those who aren't able to join us at noon, we will be recording this session as well.

Thursday, May 14

One essential part of re-opening your business during COVID-19 is having a plan for cleaning and disinfecting the workplace. This 30 minute webinar will review why disinfection is important and talk about factors you should consider in developing a plan that protects both employees and customers.
Followed by an open Q&A.

Wednesday, May 27
12:00 - 1:00 pm
Our AGM was originally scheduled for March 31 but had to be postponed due to the Coronavirus shutdown. Now that we are in place with our virtual options, we will be presenting our financial statement and approving the membership applications to date. We also have some amendments to the bylaws and constitution to be approved. I will send out a formal notice of meeting with those details.

We would ask you to register for this event and for attendance purposes, there will be a secondary registration process.

Don't forget - check our COVID-19 page that is updated continuously here at bellevillechamber.ca/covid-19.php

Watch for future virtual events... we're starting to get the hang of this now.

Please - stay safe, stay well, stay home as you can...

We're in this together and do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything you think we can help with.

COVID-19 TESTING
In Hastings and Prince Edward Counties there are a number of ways to be assessed for COVID-19. If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, you should seek clinical assessment over the phone first, except in cases of medical emergencies.
HPEPH is working closely with local Ontario Health partners, such as hospitals and primary care providers, to ensure that assessment and testing is available for those who need it.
To be assessed for COVID-19, choose one of the following options:
·         Call the HPEPH COVID-19 information line at 613-966-5500 or 1-800-267-2803
·         Call your primary care provider, if available
·         Call TeleHealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000
·         Call a local COVID-19 assessment centre, all operate by appointment only :
o    Reach the Belleville COVID-19 Assessment Centre at 613-961-5544
o    Reach the Bancroft COVID-19 Assessment Centre at 613-332-2825 ext. 2222
o    Reach the Prince Edward COVID-19 Assessment Centre through HPEPH, primary care, TeleHealth Ontario
The implementation of local assessment centres as well as the expansion of community paramedicine has enabled an expansion of the local testing criteria. Referral for in-home testing in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties may be arranged by calling HPEPH for assessment.
