On June 27th BCC held its first Yard Sale. We had no idea how it would go, especially because it was a very rainy weekend.
We scrambled to set up the tents, but thanks to all the great items donated by our supporters in the past months we were able to raise over $900!
| | It was such a success we plan to do it again this Fall, so please continue to contact BCC if you have items to donate. We can even arrange for pick up if you have large items. | | Fundraising at Pappas-Parkville | | Thanks to Jeanie, one of our new Board Members, BCC was the beneficiary of a month-long July fundraiser at Pappas-Parkville which included special BCC menu items. There was also a dedicated BCC Night on July 21 in the Sports Bar, and we had a great turnout, in spite of torrential rain. | | July is still with us, so head to Pappas Parkville Sports Bar, watch some Orioles, enjoy another Tuna Melt, and wash it down with a cool Alley Cat cocktail - all for a good cause. | | As you read on, we hope you will see how BCC continues to attract dedicated volunteers, improve its facilities and equipment, and go about its daily mission to help cats in our local area - all because of your generous support in so many ways. BCC is fortunate to have an energetic, devoted group of volunteers on our Board of Directors. Our members have diverse backgrounds, educations, and experiences that they bring to the table to get things done!
Our newest member, Elaine Rice, is already known to many of our BCC supporters and the cat rescue community.
| | Elaine has an incredible background with cat rescue organizations, and experience in veterinary care for cats with complex conditions. Her skill set is a great benefit to BCC and our ability to care for the many cats in our area. | | Support for BCC Founder Alysia and her mission has continued to grow over the years. Seeing her work for years in cramped home spaces and in the overflowing Kat Kottage, a group of volunteers and donors stepped up to fund and construct the new BCC Shelter and Catio in July 2025. | | |
These photos show the incredible transformation of the old "tent and kennel" area that housed the rescued sanctuary cats, who had access to only a small indoor area of the Kat Kottage.
The large new Shelter has been a great improvement and our shelter cats love it. The only downside is that it has no electricity. The shelter uses cooling fans in the summer, or space heaters in winter, all run by a web of extension cords, which includes lines for lights and other powered devices.

Once again, our wonderful supporters have stepped forward to help fund the electrical work needed in the Shelter!
Our recent Facebook request has raised the funds, estimated at $1500, to run electricity to the Shelter. The work includes a trench to run the power line from the the house, several power outlets, light switches, and two large, bladeless ceiling fans with lights.

Every once in a while BCC encounters a new product that assists us greatly with some of our more difficult tasks.
We previously mentioned our new Stealth Cam that continues to be an essential tool in our TNR trapping work. It allows remote viewing and monitoring of our traps, thus eliminating the problem of disturbing the site to check the traps.
| | Our newest product was desperately needed during the recent kitten influx. Many of our tiny rescued kittens require bottle feeding (by a network of wonderfully skilled volunteers), but some also require steady warmth in a temperature-controlled environment. | | Our new incubator has helped many of our tiniest kittens stay warm as they grow and regain their strength. | | Upcoming August 1st Adoption Event | | |
