We blinked and February was gone, but Breakfast Club Cats still had a lot going on in the shortest month of the year,

and much to be thankful for.

Thank You for Making Our February 22nd Fundraiser a Success!

We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who supported the Breakfast Club Cats Rock for the Rescue fundraiser on February 22, 2026.

Together we raised well over $2000!

Because of you, our donors, bidders, volunteers, and supporters, this event made a meaningful, real‑world impact for the cats who depend on us. Thanks to the generosity of our community, this single event raised enough to:

  • Provide 2 months of food and litter for our rescue cats and colonies, or
  • Cover 16 spay and neuter surgeries, helping prevent countless future litters, or
  • Fund 6 months of gas for trips to colony sites for feeding, wellness checks, trapping, and TNR efforts

Every bid, donation, shared post, and helping hand directly supports our mission to protect, care for, and humanely manage community cats. These outcomes aren’t abstract, they mean full bowls, fewer kittens born into hardship, and lifesaving medical care.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in this work and in the cats we serve. We couldn’t do it without you — and because of you, so many lives will be better.

 With gratitude,

Breakfast Club Cats

On a Very Sad Note

We were very saddened to learn about the passing of our friend, supporter, and avid animal lover, Peggy Peters.

Peggy worked at Carney Animal Hospital for many years and was always a tremendous help to Breakfast Club Cats. She guided us through the complexities of managing veterinary care for all the BCC cats in need.

"The world has lost a truly remarkable individual and friend. Peggy was one of the kindest ladies and played a vital role with Breakfast Club Cats by managing the monthly invoices for my rescue. I will deeply miss you, my friend. Much love to Peggy's family and extended family at Carney Animal Hospital. You will truly be missed by many." Alysia Witherington, BCC Founder

BCC Interview on Local WNST 1570 AM

Breakfast Club Cats is always trying to get the word out on its local mission to help the abandoned street cats of Baltimore.

What better way to do that than on a very local radio program?

Nestor Apariciao of Baltimore Positive (WNST 1570 AM) hosts a weekly program (A Cup of Soup or Bowl) that highlights local organizations and programs that benefit the Baltimore area. On February 10 he interviewed BCC Founder Alysia and board member Kim at the local Pizza Johns in Essex, MD, as they shared their experiences and information on the mission of BCC.

"From the neighborhoods in Essex and beyond, Alysia Witherington and Kim Shewell capture local cat colonies to spay, neuter and fix a new home and heart with their feline love via Breakfast Club Cats rescue, which Nestor learned about at Pizza John’s on “A Cup Of Soup Or Bowl” week. You’ll never regret welcoming a kitty into your life! Here’s your chance"

You can read about and listen to the interview at the WNST site.

Adoption Event or Anytime

We are always thankful for the support of our local Pet Supplies Plus store on Merritt Boulevard. They kindly support BCC by hosting our adoption events!

Our last adoption event was on February 14th, and resulted in the adoption of Clifton, a beautiful blue-eyed boy.

But you do not need to attend an event to adopt!

We are always trying to find loving homes for our adoptable cats and kittens. They are always spayed/ neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, healthy, and ready to meet you.

Visit our website to learn about the BCC adoption process, see our adoptable cats, and schedule a meet and greet.

If you have friends or family interested in adopting a cat or kitten, please send them our way!

Party On!

In spite of the impending bad weather on February 22, we had over 100 supporters at our fundraising event. We would like to close our update with a few pictures of our Rock For The Rescue Event, including our youngest and cutest supporter.
