BCC at Financial Planning Week - Platinum Title Sponsor 2019
Financial Planning Week 2019
By Jason Watt, CD, CLU

As in 2018, Business Career College was the Platinum Sponsor for FP Canada’s Financial Planning Week 2019 activities. This is our fourth year sponsoring Financial Planning Week activities; we have sponsored the Ethics Breakfast in the past as well.

Penny's Thoughts About Financial Planning Week
I love Financial Planning week. I get to meet old friends and make new ones.
The Celebration of Profession dinner was wonderful. Caroline Ouellette shared her amazing story of winning 4 gold medals, and captaining the women’s hockey team to the Olympics.
The Ethics breakfast I heard rave reviews about. First year offered by live webinar and attendance exceeded expectations. The symposium speakers shared very well. I only got to hear Andrew Au, but enjoyed him very much.
Cookie, our public relations specialist, met many of the Vancouver attendees.
Last, but not least, the FP Canada staff were so helpful and made the whole week so enjoyable.
Cary and all, thank you very, very much.
See you all in 2020! November 18 th in Toronto and the 20 th in Vancouver.
What's New?
Penny's Corner
Our annual professional responsibility webinar is running on December 10 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. MT.
Jason will explore two scenarios dealing with real-life ethics concerns. These scenarios deal with a client who wants to help out her son's business, and with a planner who discovers another planner in his office engaged in questionable practices. Content is drawn from FP Canada's Standards of Professional Responsibility.
Please click HERE and register yourself. The webinar costs $25.00 only.

Keeping Up with BCC Students
3 Generations of CFP® Professionals
We met Eric, the youngest of the Adams, in 2017. At the time he enrolled in our CFP program. Later on, he did our EPC program and his father, Rob, joined as well. Eric has recently completed his CFP® Exam Prep and obtained his CFP® designation, making him the third generation in his family to obtain this designation. We want to congratulate him and share a picture he sent to us after passing his CFP® Exam with the following message:

"Thanks again for the Level 1™ and CFP® exam prep. I’m not sure I would have passed without those courses! I wanted to share this picture with you... Proud moment for everybody."

Eric: Thank you for the kind words. Students like you give meaning to our jobs. From all of us at Business Career College

Bob Watt, EPC

Now that we have spent some time looking at the LLQP program and all its various components, it will be good to look at some steps that are being taken to keep it current. Students are currently tested on material included in the 5 th Edition LLQP text books. The process is that each year in the fall the newest edition is published. We are sent the newest edition in late September so that we, as providers, can review the changes and work on any adjustments needed for our question banks and teaching material. Provincial exams are adjusted effective January 1 st of each year to reflect any changes since the previous addition was published for the prior year.
