Period A-166 Allocation
The A-166 allocation (marketing’s from October 25 to December 19, 2020) was set by the CFC Board of Directors on July 29, 2020 at 1% above base.

National allocation numbers in kilograms live weight:

Domestic: 260,375,592
Market Development: 9,083,169
Specialty: 2,090,534 (requested by BC and ON)
Total: 271,549,295

BC’s share of the National allocation:
Domestic: 36,067,373
Market Development: 1,713,869
Specialty :1,207,184 kilograms
Total: 38,988,426 kilograms

• BC’s domestic allocation represents .7% over base under the current allocation formula
• MD represents 4.39% of BC’s total allocation
• Specialty represents 3.01% of BC’s total allocation

Pro rata allotment to mainstream growers will be 97.45%

Consultation for Proposed Changes to Election Rules
BCCMB has completed consultation regarding proposed changes to the election rules with the BC Chicken Growers Association. All BC chicken growers are encouraged to review our revised election rules and associated documents available on our website here.
Chicken Sector Pricing Review Process Update
On July 28 2020, the BC Chicken Marketing Board and BC Broiler Hatching Egg Commision sent a letter to the BC Farm Industry Review Board stressing the importance of assessing the sectors in other western provinces as part of this review. Read more here.

On August 7, 2020 the BC Ministry of Agriculture issued a Disease Notification of Virulent Pigeon Paramyxovirus in a non-commercial pigeon loft. BC Chicken growers are encouraged to submit any birds suffering from unexplained clinical signs or increased mortality to the Animal Health Centre or a poultry veterinarian.

Fall 2020 Unwanted Pesticides and Animal Medications Collection
CleanFarms will be collecting unwanted pesticides and animal meds on Vancouver Island from October 5-9 and in the Fraser Valley Region October 12-16, 2020. Okanagan collection will take place in the Fall of 2021.
