Important Dates
Period A-167 (December 20, 2020 – February 13, 2021)
CFC Sets Allocation: Tue. Sep. 15, 2020
Deadline to submit quota transfer papers: Tue. Sep. 8
Deadline to submit allocation paperwork: Mon. Sep.14 at 12:00 NOON

DEADLINE FOR QUOTA EXPANSION. Growers who have not gotten the entirety of the 20% quota increase must provide barn space by JULY 5th, 2021 at NOON. Insufficient space will result in forfeiture of any portion of the growth quota that cannot be accommodated.

Fall 2020 Unwanted Pesticides and Animal Medications Collection

CleanFarms will be collecting unwanted pesticides and animal meds on Vancouver Island from October 5-9 and in the Fraser Valley Region October 12-16, 2020. Okanagan collection will take place in the Fall of 2021
Chicken Farmers of Canada News
Chicken Farmers of Canada (CFC) is delaying the 2020 goal to eliminate the preventive Category III antimicrobials. Key meetings between important partners at a provincial level were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The success of the strategy is based on taking a responsible approach to ensure animal welfare and sustainability.  Read more about CFC’s AMU strategy here

Land Use Survey in Abbotsford July 27 - Sep. 15
The BC Ministry of Agriculture and the Partnership for Water Sustainability in BC are working together to complete an Agricultural Land Use Inventory (ALUI) for the City of Abbotsford. Ministry staff will be navigating public roads to observe farmland using binoculars from inside a vehicle or standing at safe roadside locations.
Emergency and Contingency Planning Resources
Farm Management Canada has put together a new interactive website that will allow producers to ask all their questions about emergency preparedness and contingency planning through an online forum, and then receive answers based on the knowledge and experience of industry experts. In memory of Stewart Paulson
Stewart Paulson passed away peacefully at home on August 12, 2020. Stew worked as the Poultry Industry Specialist for the BC Ministry of Agriculture and was a champion of the poultry industry for many years.
Family and friends are establishing a Stewart Paulson Memorial Scholarship Fund at the UBC Faculty of Land and Food Systems. The fund will support graduate students whose theses focus on sustainable poultry or animal production and marketing. Find out more here.

Sharing Your Story
The BC Agriculture Council recently provided a webinar which highlighted their latest public trust research and provided tips on how to manage in-person and on-line conversations. Its approximately 1.5 hours and features Andrew Campbell, an Ontario dairy farmer and well known "agvocate". The video is available as an unlisted YouTube video here.
