Allocation for Period A-187 & A-188

The allocation for Period A-187 (January 14, 2024 – March 9, 2024) was set by the Chicken Farmers of Canada Board of Directors on October 10, 2023 at 1.5% above base as follows (in KG LIVE weight.)

Domestic: 278,640,327

Market Development: 7,480,925

Specialty (BC and ON): 2,473,052

Total: 288,594,304

MD as compared to domestic: 2.68%

Specialty as compared to domestic: 0.89%


British Columbia

Domestic: 38,303,229

1.5% over base nationally yields +0.8% to BC under the current CFC allocation agreement, the Atlantic Canada Safeguard agreement and eastern Canada recovery agreement.

 The BC Chicken Growers Association is presenting a HPAI Standard Operating Procedures Workshop on October 18 (Abbotsford), October 25 (Duncan), November 6 (Vernon), and November 29 (Abbotsford). NOTICE OF APPEAL



B&L Poultry Ltd is appealing to BCFIRB a decision of the Board to deny relief from its Over Marketing Levy applied to quota period A-180. 

The appeal will be held at the Sandman Hotel and Suites (Studio 2) located at 32720 Simon Avenue on November 15, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m

INITIATED IN 2011, Chicken Farmers of Canada's (CFC) RESPONSIBLE ANTIMICROBIAL USE (AMU) STRATEGY HAS LED THE WAY IN UNDERSTANDING ANTIMICROBIAL USE PATTERNS, PROMOTING GOOD PRODUCTION PRACTICES, GUIDING RESEARCH, AND REDUCING ANTIMICROBIAL USE

2023 BCCMB Industry Evaluation





The BC Council of Marketing Boards (BCCOMB) will be conducting a survey via email.

The survey will be sent by Della Oberhoffer to every registered quota holder, including processors and hatcheries.

It is possible that you may receive more than one survey if you have multiple licence numbers. Please ensure that you check your spam or junk mail folder for the survey. 


All responses will be kept confidential and the survey results and comments provided by the respondents will be reviewed by the Board. The feedback received will be taken into consideration for future planning and decision making. 


The survey will be open from October 16th to November 6th, 4:00 p.m.

There will be incentives for participation, including an early bird draw for a $200 VISA gift card and three subsequent draws for a $100 VISA gift card. All participants, except for the early bird winner, will be entered into the other prize draws. 


Della from BCCOMB will be sending automatic reminders until the day before the survey closes.

CFC Young Farmers Program 



CFC is hosting a virtual zoom call on October 31, at 11am PST for those interested in the young farmer program. Please reach out to info@bcchicken.ca and we will send you the invite direct.

The CFC Young Farmer Program is aimed at supporting and empowering the next generation of farmers.


Every year, five young farmers will be selected to participate in the 18-month program

• One from the Atlantic Provinces

• One from Ontario

• One from Quebec

• Two from the Western provinces
