Conclusion of Two National Chicken Allocation Agreements – Impact on BC

The "Discrete Supply to Ontario Agreement" and the "Atlantic Canada Safeguard Agreement" were set to conclude at the end of allocation period A-192. A number of kilograms from these agreements continued to be carried over into A-193, but both agreements will cease thereafter. The exact impact on British Columbia (BC) will become clearer once the A-194 allocation is set.

For reference, in period A-192, BC gave up a total of 83,069 kg due to these agreements—81,866 kg through the Discrete Supply Allocation to Ontario and 1,203 kg via the Atlantic Canada Safeguard Agreement. With A194, Ontario and the Atlantic provinces will no longer receive contributions from the other provinces, including BC, under these two agreements, increasing BC’s share

 of future growth going forward.

Using Glo-Germ to Illuminate

Pathogen Containment & Spread

CFC has developed a new video on barn entrance biosecurity, and the proper method of using different types of barriers (step overs and benches). This video uses glo-germ to show how bacteria/viruses can spread into a barn with common biosecurity mistakes, and also how cross-contamination can be prevented with good barn-entry design and practices.

Anyone with access to your barn is encouraged to watch the full video which can be found by clicking the link below.
