A new BCCSA conference venue, presenting at the Canadian Concrete Expo and free lattes at the LEAP, Women in Construction Conference
New, larger BCCSA Conference venue this fall
The BCCSA’s BC Construction Health and Safety Conference will be held on October 23rd and 24th this year at a new and larger venue — the Executive Plaza Hotel in Coquitlam. The success of the growing conference sparked a search for a new location that offers more space for attendees and a larger trade show floor for exhibitors. We also listened to delegate feedback that noted that downtown Vancouver traffic congestion had become challenging. In addition, the new location offers more options for attendees to park their trucks. Registrations for the conference are now open.
Making our mark at the Canadian Concrete Expo
The BCCSA was well-represented at the Canadian Concrete Expo, held in Mississauga on February 12th and 13th. Attendance was strong despite the area’s biggest snowstorm of the season. The Alliance promoted the BCCSA Certified Concrete Pump Operator (CCPO) program and the use of the Silica Control Tool®. The BCCSA' s health and exposure scientist, Dr. Melanie Gorman Ng and Meghan Friesen, occupational hygienist at Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers also presented an education session — “The Silica Control Tool®: A free online tool to protect lung health”. Ontario is one of the jurisdictions where the Silica Control Tool® is now available to workers.
