Our members contribute far more than specialized services. They regularly share thought leadership, host events, publish research and papers, and open the door to extensive professional networks and expertise—creating meaningful opportunities for collaboration and growth within our community.

Through our strong relationships with British chambers of commerce and partner organizations around the world, BCCTC members also benefit from a wide network of international knowledge and connections. For example, the British Chambers of Commerce in Latin America and the Caribbean recently shared insights on the evolving business landscape and opportunities in Venezuela, while the West Highland Chamber of Commerce is preparing a trade mission to Nova Scotia.

We are also delighted to extend special invitations to upcoming opportunities to connect with partners across the transatlantic network. Members in Toronto will have the chance to meet Nigel Bacon, Executive Director of the Canada–UK Chamber of Commerce in London, who will be visiting the city for a few days. Meanwhile, for those in the UK, Destination Toronto will host a special event at Canada House later this month—contact us for details.

In addition, the Chamber was honoured to take part in a high-level roundtable in Toronto hosted by UK Consul General Fouzia Younis and the Financial Conduct Authority. Christophe Shammas represented the BCCTC alongside senior FCA officials and Canadian industry participants to discuss opportunities for deeper collaboration between the UK and Canadian financial services sectors.

UK Financial Conduct Authority visits Canada

The British Canadian Chamber of Trade & Commerce’s Christophe Shammas was honoured to participate in a high-level roundtable discussion in Toronto co-hosted by HM Consul General Fouzia Younis and UK Financial Conduct Authority. The event brought together senior members of the FCA and key Canadian industry participants to explore deeper collaboration between the UK and Canadian markets in financial services. The dialogue focused on the vital importance of aligning UK and Canadian regulatory frameworks to support a more integrated and competitive global marketplace.

The core of the discussion centered on identifying and dismantling the specific market access barriers and regulatory duplications that currently hinder cross-border capital market activity. Participants shared candid views and took away action items to foster further access to the UK markets by Canadian entities.

For the Chamber and its members, these discussions are a critical step toward enhancing the already strong trade relationship between the UK and Canada. We look forward to continuing this work with the FCA and our partners at the British Consulate-General to ensure our members remain at the forefront of these regulatory advancements.

BritCham LAC - British Chambers in Latin America and the Caribbean

British Chambers in Latin America held a recent meeting highlighting the importance of ensuring that British companies are fully informed about emerging opportunities in Venezuela, particularly within the hydrocarbons sector. To support this objective, the organization of high-level webinars was proposed as a platform to facilitate knowledge-sharing and strategic dialogue.
