BCGM Update and 501 c3 Status

The recent IRS Letter of Determination for our 501(c)(3) status has created a lot of enthusiasm within the Borinqueneers Community!  In fact, several inquiries have been received regarding the medal and the unveiling ceremony and we thought this would be a great opportunity to address some matters.

The Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony National Committee ( BCGM CNC ) is the organization officially collaborating with the new Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Paul Ryan, on the Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal Unveiling National Ceremony and its accompanying receptions and activities. As the Congressionally appointed BCGM Liaison and CEO of the BCGM CNC, Samuel Rodriguez, is the point of contact collaborating with the Speaker of the House as outlined by the Congressional Gold Medal Rules and Procedures.
Everyone's passion is appreciated and we relate to their concerns, but we too must follow the protocol that is in place for the design, minting and unveiling of congressional gold medals and the BCGM is without exception.  As such, please direct all inquiries to the BCGM CNC website and/or Samuel Rodriguez and not any of the Congressional Offices, the US Mint Office or the Smithsonian Institute.  Any inquiries to these entities are being redirected to the BCGM CNC.  We have also been advised that directly contacting the before-mentioned entities will not give anyone access to, or the capability of influencing, the next phases of the BCGM process.  It will also not get anyone preferential treatment, nor will it help expedite getting information.
This is an arduous and long-standing legislative tradition with an already difficult scheduling process and we therefore ask for your assistance in communicating directly with the officially appointed Liaison through the BCGM CNC to avoid any confusion and/or receipt of any misinformation.
In the meantime, we remain steadfast on the promotion of efforts with accurate and timely updates, while also focusing on the fundraising that will allow the BCGM CNC to complete tasks in hand, as well as attain our goals. For those who wish to join us in ensuring that our Borinqueneers' Legacy is forever engraved into the annals of the United States of America, please do not hesitate to contact us
