The
BC Hotel Association
(BCHA) board of directors is delighted to announce Ingrid Jarrett’s appointment as our new president and chief executive officer. Ingrid brings to the position more than three decades of experience in business leadership, strategic business development and successful collaboration with partners and stakeholders, and is a highly respected member of BC’s hospitality and business industries. Ingrid’s appointment is historic, as she is the first female president and CEO in BCHA’s 103-year history.
As many of you know, Ingrid has served on BCHA’s
board of directors since 2004, and was Chair of the Board in 2013/2014, and since then has been on the executive, channeling
her expertise into support and advocacy for our entire membership. In addition to leading multiple top hospitality businesses and organizations such as President & CEO of the Canadian Vacation Ownership Association, she has also earned multiple awards over the years for her contributions to tourism and business, including BCHA’s Hotelier of the Year Award (2017) and WXN’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada (2017). Ingrid has taught tourism and business courses at Camosun College, the University of Victoria and Royal Roads University, educating the next generation of tourism leaders; and supports young entrepreneurs by providing assistance with business plans, strategy and marketing.
As president and CEO, Ingrid will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of BCHA according to the strategic direction set by your board of directors. She will also communicate on behalf of the organization with partners, government and BC communities, and advocate for the advancement and evolution of our industry.
Ingrid is motivated by a passion for all parts of BC, having worked and lived in cities and rural areas across the region. The mother of three daughters, she is cognizant of demonstrating the importance of female leadership and empowerment both personally and professionally. In her spare time, she likes to ski and read, and loves all types of music and the culinary arts.
Ingrid has established a well-earned reputation for inspirational leadership and tangible development of the tourism and hospitality industry in BC, and has worked with many of you directly in various roles. We have full confidence she is the best person for the job and will achieve great things during her tenure. Please join us in congratulating Ingrid!
