Holiday Gift Bags

Beach Cities Health District staff and volunteers assembled Holiday Gift Bags that will be safely hand-delivered by volunteers and first responders to 250 older adults and adults with disabilities in our Community Services Care Management program. Thank you to all our volunteers and Girl Scout Troop #16745 from Hermosa Beach.

Thank you for helping spread cheer through our Holiday Gift Bag program! We would like to thank our donors, volunteers who decorated a card for the bags, and volunteers and first responders who safely delivered the bags to older adults and adults with disabilities in the Beach Cities this holiday season.

Man of the Year Award

Tom Bakaly, CEO of the Beach Cities Health District, was named “Man of the Year” alongside KTLA meteorologist Vera Jimenez, named “Woman of the Year,” honors bestowed by the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce at its 115th Community Awards.

Nominated by BCHD employees, Bakaly was singled out for the Health District’s efforts to assist the community throughout the last year, including establishing clinics for COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, and providing meals and assistance for older adults in the community. BCHD was instrumental in working with local Chambers of Commerce – including Redondo Beach – to create the “Safe in the South Bay” program, which helped area businesses take the proper steps to ensure the health and safety of their staff and customers.

Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Asks Residents to Mask, Get Boosted

With a rise in COVID-19 cases, Los Angeles County moved into the CDC High Community Level this week, prompting Public Health officials to ask all residents to layer in sensible health protections including indoor masking and getting vaccinated and boosted.
