If you own or manage a building in Town that has been temporarily shut down during the pandemic, the Department of Public Works has released a memorandum with guidance on how to address water quality in the building’s plumbing system prior
to re-opening.

Buildings that have had little to no occupancy for long periods of time can cause stagnant water conditions to develop within a building’s internal water system plumbing where free chlorine residual concentrations in the water decrease to undetectable levels. Chlorine is used in our water system to prevent regrowth of biofilms that could contain Legionella and other potentially harmful microbes.
