Sigma Sigma Phi Trains 300+ in Two-Step CPR
Las Crucens of all ages learned lifesaving CPR from BCOM medical students at the Mesilla Valley Mall on February 9 and 10.

Students from BCOM's Sigma Sigma Phi Honors Fraternity gathered at the Mesilla Valley Mall to train 329 community members in hands-only CPR as part of the National Texas Two-Step CPR: Save a Life Campaign 2019. Event leader Sidra Shah said, "The most memorable part of this event was the amount of younger kids we trained. They were super excited to learn about CPR and I am happy we got to train them!"

A Memorable Rotation in Tucson
Our Student DOs of the Month are Adam Moreno and Mackenzie Goodrich who just completed memorable rotations at Northwest NeuroSpecialists under the guidance of preceptors Thomas B. Scully, MD, and Richard V. Chua, MD.

BCOM Students Selected as AHEC Scholars
Sixteen first and second year students were selected as Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Scholars. The two-year program is designed for students interested in practicing in rural and underserved urban settings. 

BCOM Student Provides Medical Aid in Mexico
Zack Taylor volunteered with the Flying Samaritans, an organization that provides free health clinics to those in need in Mexico. He assisted with a variety of unexpected medical procedures for an experience that was both difficult and rewarding.

John Rajala Appointed to Chair SOMA National Board of Directors
Third year BCOM medical student John Rajala has been appointed as chair of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) National Board of Directors. Read on to find out what he hopes to accomplish in his new role.
