First BCOM Student Rotates at Native American Health Care Center
Students from the class of 2020 began their third year clinical clerkship rotations, and Anjali Kakkar was the first BCOM medical student to rotate at a Native American health center. She recently completed a four-week rotation in family medicine at the Pueblo of Isleta Health Center, an invaluable experience that opened her eyes to the challenges Native American populations face and the overwhelming need for doctors who are willing to practice in rural and underserved areas.

BCOM Student Leaders Help Pass AOA Resolutions
Four BCOM student members of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association helped pass seven resolutions with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) House of Delegates.

Student is One of Four Selected to Speak at National Conference
Third year student Harris Ahmed was one of four students throughout the country selected to speak at a conference where he presented his research on alleviating eye care disparities in rural communities. 

New Artwork Added to On-Campus Collection
At an art festival held in Mesilla, BCOM President John L. Hummer purchased an original painting by renowned artist Amado Peña . The work is titled Los Artesanos and represents BCOM's commitment to the healing arts.

Our featured staff member of the month is BCOM's new Career Counselor Michelle Devora ,M.Ed. This El Paso native and two-time UTEP graduate has more than seven years of career advising experience and she is available to help students with all facets of the residency application process to include deciphering the requirements for individual medical specialties, Curriculum Vitae (CV) preparation, and providing guidance on personal statements and any residency related documentation.
