April 15th is Tax Day!
Thanks to President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill, Coloradans can expect an average federal tax cut of about $4,344 per taxpayer in 2026 according to Tax Foundation (taxfoundation.org) estimates. The savings derive from making the 2017 tax cuts permanent, adding no taxes on tips and overtime for many workers, increasing the child tax credit, and other provisions that boost take-home pay. Thanks DJT!

Notes from Desk of BCR Chairman, Peg Cage
Results from the CD2 and State Assemblies
Congratulations to our two Congressional candidates, who both had over 30% of the votes at assembly and therefore are both on the primary election ballot. Marty Neilson did not have an opponent at the Assembly, so she will be our candidate for CD2 CU Regent.
For the Governor’s race, Scott Bottoms and Victor Marx are the only two candidates to make the June 30 primary election ballot. The other 16 candidates each received less than 30% of the vote and did not make the ballot. If Barbara Kirkmeyer’s petitions are verified to have enough valid signatures, she will be the third GOP Governor candidate on the ballot.
Kevin Grantham was the only GOP candidate for State Treasurer and will be our candidate. Candidates for Attorney General, Michael Allen and David Wilson, will both be on the primary election ballot. James Wiley for Secretary of State and Mark Baisley for US Senate were the only ones to top 30% in their respective races and will be on the ballot for those offices.
Marty Neilson for CD2 Regent is the BCR Treasurer and a long-time friend of the party. The two CD2 Congressional candidates and eight of the gubernatorial candidates have come to Boulder County to meet with us, including the two winners. Grantham, Wiley, and Baisley have also come to visit. BCR delegates cast informed votes at the assembly. The candidates will continue to be invited to Boulder County, so we hope Republicans will take advantage of the organization’s events to meet the candidates so they can vote wisely on their primary election ballots.
Election Integrity and the integrity of the Party were important issues for the delegates. We voted to put into the Assembly record that the Colorado GOP opposes the use of machines in GOP elections or in elections at any level of government in CO; to censure the 15 State Executive Committee members who stopped the lawyers from filing a preliminary injunction to prevent the Secretary of State from sending Republican primary ballots to unaffiliated electors in 2026; and to direct the lawyers to go ahead and file the preliminary injunction. Thank you to the donors and lawyers who won the judgement that requiring that 75% of the entire Colorado Republican Committee vote to opt-out of the open primaries is unconscionably high and therefore unconstitutional.
Here are some articles about this past weekend’s happenings:

Next week I hope to share more about the inside working of the GOP and Boulder County’s plan to succeed in 2026.
Thank you so much for your support for BCR!
Sincerely,
Peg Cage, Chairman Boulder County Republicans
