Break The Mold

This month’s winner has served in two professional roles over her 19 years in education. Terri Hall has been a school counselor for eight years and before that she was a teacher. She’s the kind of counselor who has the ability to forget you are talking to a counselor. The supports she provides to her students at school she also follows through with them at home. Proof of that is a life changing decision she recently made that speaks volumes about the kind of person and professional she is.

School Board Student Presentative receives Good Citizenship Award

Heng Yang received the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizenship Award. This award is given to high school seniors who based on recommendations exhibit the qualities of dependability, cooperation, helpfulness, responsibility, leadership, patriotism and receive good grades. Here to present this award is Peggy Kennedy of the Boone County Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In addition to his duties with the Boone County Schools Superintendent's Student Advisory Council, Heng is a U.S. Senate Youth Program KY Delegate, a Jack Kent Cook College Scholarship Winner, A National Science Youth Camp KY Delegate, a National Merit Winner and with all that he is heading to Columbia University to student Chemicali Engineering. Congratultions Heng!

Boone County Schools Custodian is a finalist for the National ESP Award

Last year at this time we acknowledged Michael Johnson, head custodian at IGNITE Institute, for winning the Kentucky Education Association Education Support Professional of the Year award. That put him in the running for this year’s National Education Associations (NEA) annual award. His nominator Charlie Bufano said, quote “We recently traveled to Seattle, Washington for the NEA ESP Conference along with a BCCEA group selected by the KEA to represent Kentucky to cheer Mike on. While he did not win the National award it is still prestigious to be one of the 38 nominees and we at the BCCEA are proud to have had one of our own to be in the running.” On behalf of the district Mike, we congratulate you!
