Meet the New Coach at Boone County High School

He is a familiar face. You probably knew Coach Todd Humphrey as Boone County High's Youth Service Center Coordinator and coach. For the last three years he's been doing that job as well as being the head coach of the girls basketball program. He had the state's fifth best rebounding team, and the program will return more than 35 points per game next season. Humphrey played on championship basketball teams at both Lindsey Wilson College and Holmes High School. Prior to coming to Boone County, he coached at Holmes, Dixie Heights and Cooper. He will be introduced to the public Monday June 24th at the BCHS Performing Arts Center at 7:30pm. Congratulations Coach Humphrey!

Transportation Job Fair

The Boone County Schools Transportation Department has been holding job fairs at several of district schools over the last two weeks. If you couldn't make it to one of them and would like to inquire about driving a school bus please go to the Boone County Schools website for more information. Some of the great perks for school bus drivers include training reimbursement, full coverage health insurance and being off when the students are off (not weekends, no holidays and summers off). In these pictures buses were on display and a makeshift application center was set up on one of the buses. Applicants were also allowed to test drive a school bus. The Transportation Job Fair was held at the following schools: Ockerman Middle School, Erpenbeck Elementary, Camp Ernst Middle School, North Pointe Elementary, Mann Elementary and Stephens Elementary Schools.

Reading Rodeo Summer Program

Burlington Elementary and Ockerman Elementary schools held their Reading Rodeo Summer Program this week and last. At both schools students and their families were treated to free books and dinner with several activities to entertain the students. At Ockerman, Ms. September and Friends from Temberstales performed a magic show and ventriloquism. At Burlington, students learned how to Square Dance, the DO-SI-DO, etc. and lasso a bull among so many other fun activities at both schools. See the pictures below.

Ryle High School

A National Honor Society committee lead by NHS President and 23-24 Senior Andrew Price completed a courtyard project this past school year. Price was bothered by the beautiful court yards at Ryle not being used and came up with an idea to create something for Ryle's Gross Motor Development (GMD) students. His committee found a sponsor, home builder Drees, to pay for the materials and sponsor the project. This has been an idea that Price has wanted to do for two years. He even built the infrastructure. Now students from GMD classes and the Gardening Club have raised garden beds to plant in and maintain during the school year. It has been named The Drees Gardens. Thank you to the NHS committee and graduate Andrew Price! You have left a wonderful legacy at Ryle High.
