Hilton Head Island High School is using art to bring joy to children around the world. Art students have been creating portraits for children living in a Syrian refugee camp, as well as for children in other countries
who are facing challenges of neglect, the loss of a parent and extreme poverty.

Robotics Club at Beaufort Elementary Engineers Fun Into Programming
Students at Beaufort Elementary are using Dash and Dot robots to learn the basics of programming and engineering. Simple coding skills are acquired by using apps on their iPads. It looks like fun and encourages students to think about their future goals.
Beaufort High School Earns
The American School Counselor Association has announced that Beaufort High School is now a recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) school. The RAMP designation is
awarded to schools that align with the criteria in the ASCA National Model and are committed to delivering a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program and an exemplary educational environment. "It has been a comprehensive effort that required a high level of participation on the part of every counselor in our department,"said Beaufort High Counselor, Michelle Dixon."Our work is purposeful and important. We truly believe our students are different because of what we do. It has been an extraordinary journey for our department." Since the RAMP program's inception, more than 700 schools have earned the designation. Beaufort High will be honored at a recognition ceremony at ASCA's annual conference in Colorado this July.

"River of Words"
Now in its seventh year, "River of Words" enables students to demonstrate their understanding and appreciation of the Port Royal Sound area and make their voices heard. This year's participating schools were: Battery Creek High, Beaufort Middle, Bluffton Middle, Hilton Head Island Elementary, Hilton Head Island School for the Creative Arts, H.E. McCracken Middle, Joseph S. Shanklin Elementary, Mossy Oaks Elementary, May River High, Okatie Elementary, Pritchardville Elementary, Red Cedar Elementary, Riverview Charter, River Ridge Academy, Robert Smalls International Academy, Michael C. Riley Elementary and Whale Branch Middle.
