Third Quarter 2020 eNewsletter
Message from the President of the Board
Mario A. Varela, CSP, ASP
The value of safety certification is based on several interconnected elements. When industry organizations, credential holders, and certification bodies work together as common stakeholders in the advancement of safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) practice, we grow that value in multiples.

The importance of certification grows when organizations make safety a value. This encourages safe practices and builds support for safety practitioners. Studies demonstrate that supervisors who place a high value on safety achieve greater levels of safety compliance from their workers. Certification, with the skill-building, education, and training it entails, is one of the surest methods to establish safety leadership and maintain a strong safety culture.

Certification demonstrates your competency, your specialty, and your drive to prove yourself. In conjunction with safety certifications’ value to organizations, this enhances your career through greater professional and social recognition. This means the possibility of a greater salary, new opportunities in the industry, and an expanded network from which you can draw support.

What we do as a certification body to provide value to those pursuing or holding our credentials matters as well.

The relationships we share with our endorsing organizations, certification sponsors, and industry partnerships build recognition of BCSP safety certifications. BCSP credential holders enjoy extensive support for education through the BCSP Foundation and additional career building opportunities through our career center and career fairs. Those pursuing certification now have new training opportunities through examCORE, and we continue to work on providing value for certificants through exclusive benefits, recertPRO, and related sources of professional development.

BCSP is dedicated to building the value of safety certification with the advancement of safety as our guiding principle.

Videos must be submitted by October 20, 2020, to be considered.

We look forward to your joining us.
