Hello,

Last night, the University of Illinois Student Government (“ISG”) voted in support of an anti-Israel resolution intended to delegitimize the only democratic country in the Middle East. Twenty years ago I was the President of ISG, and I am sickened and disappointed by this hijacking of the student body’s voice.

As many of you know, the effort to Boycott, Divest and Sanction (“BDS”) Israeli companies is a decades-old effort to pressure universities and governments to stop doing business with Israeli companies. Under the guise of trying to promote Palestinian human rights, the BDS movement is instead exclusively focused on isolating and damaging the only Jewish nation in the world, turning a blind eye to the endless persecution and human right abuses elsewhere.

I want you all to be aware that this fight rages on at college campuses throughout America, leaving Jewish students feeling ostracized and targeted. I also want to thank the UIUC Hillel and University Administration that has been steadfast in opposing these BDS ploys on campus.

What can you do?

EDUCATE
Educate yourself about the  history   of the State of Israel.

Educate your children, family and friends about  BDS  and  what is happening on campus .

SUPPORT
Support the University of Illinois  Hillel  and  Chabad  who have been on the frontlines.

Support UIUC's Administration standing strong against this pressure on campus (and  encourage them to continue public opposition to BDS ).
