We urge you to be like the friends of the paralytic man who did everything in their power to see him get before the Lord and get healed (Mark 2 v 2-10).

Please invite and pray in all your contacts from far and wide. The Lord promises to do abundantly more than we have ever seen.

The conference is free, but bringing guest speakers, ministry teams, venues etc, costs a lot of money. Please get in touch with our office or send us an email if you would like to know how you can help us.

Over the Easter period, one of the talks I gave made me ponder on Pilate's behaviour. He was the Roman governor of Judea at the time Jesus was killed. His duty as a governor was not only to keep peace in the city, but also to protect life and property. So Pilate had a duty to protect Jesus, a Jewish citizen from mob action.

Pilate did not think Jesus was guilty. He declared that he found nothing wrong with him ( John 19v 6). However he couldn't stand on it. It makes me wonder how easy it is to mouth words when we worship our Lord, but are unable to stand and act on them when situations arise.

Pilate was so amazed at Jesus courage, and lack of fear that he said, 'won't you speak to me, who has the power to release you?'

Jesus pointed out to him that all we have is given to us from above. This is timely to all who are placed in positions of authority. Are we mindful of the fact, it was given from above. Am I achieving heavens purpose or mine....? We could be very busy with our desires, which may not be Papa's Heart. We need to figure out what motives drive us?

Summarising Pilate's character, we see that he was someone who wavered a lot. James (1v 6-7) refers to it as being of two minds, unstable and unreliable. He says it results in unanswered prayers. I cant remember who said that ... if you don't stand for anything, you will fall for everything.

Pilate suppressed his conscience because he was afraid of the people he was leading. He was so afraid of man he was ready to shirk his responsibility and reject truth rather than use his position to influence for good.The consequences of all this was, he allowed a hate crime and handed over an innocent man who hadn't gone through a legal process to be crucified while setting a robber free.

Because Pilate wanted the mob to believe that he was a friend of Caesar, he chose to please man and rejected the truth of who Jesus said He was and believed the mob's lies. This fear of man distorted his ability to make a right choice and Pilate choose to disobey God.

The fear of man is a subtle but powerful demonic scheme. Sometimes it's connected to the religious spirit. It's going through the form of outer godliness, but having absolutely no power. It hinders our obedience to the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we are more anxious about man's thought. It makes us quite ineffective as tools in the Lord's Hand. It could stop us from entering into our destiny.

Much as the purpose of our salvation is seen here, as my sins were placed on Jesus, and he has made eternal life available for all who desire it, it was the failings in Pilate's character that God used to enter in and provide deliverance for mankind. The far-reaching consequences of being a people pleaser can't be over emphasised. Fear, when allowed to fester in our lives, takes the place of faith. Fear is built on unbelief. It enters in when we believe the lies of the enemy instead of trusting the character, truth and power of God. The reason why fear is a sin is because it comes from a choice we make not to trust God. How hurtful is this for the One who sacrificed His only Son to show us how truly loved we are.

At the cross, we have hate's record at its worst, and love's record at its best. People hated so much that they put Christ to death. However, God so loved, that He gave people life.

May we be those who live to please God.

Bible Passage
Psalm 96: 1 - 13

1. Oh, sing to the Lord a new song!
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.

2. Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.

3. Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples.

4. For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;
He is to be feared above all gods.

5. For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
But the Lord made the heavens.

6. Honor and majesty are before Him;
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

7. Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
Give to the Lord glory and strength.

8. Give to the Lord the glory due His name;
Bring an offering, and come into His courts.

9. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!
Tremble before Him, all the earth.

10. Say among the nations, "The Lord reigns;
The world also is firmly established,
It shall not be moved;
He shall judge the peoples righteously."

11. Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
Let the sea roar, and all its fullness;

12. Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it.
Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord.

13. For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth.
He shall judge the world with righteousness,
And the peoples with His truth.
