Pilates Beginners Mat Class
with Elsa Gould
In this basic mat class we'll explore our ability to control our centers while we move our limbs. You'll just need a place to lie down with some space around you - a yoga mat on the floor is best but if you have difficulty getting up and down off the floor the bed is alright too. Grab a small pillow for your head and a strap of some sort - a long belt works fine.

Movies with Mark Caro:  His Girl Friday
Discuss this hidden gem from the past:
Howard Hawks’  His Girl Friday  is the quintessential screwball comedy (and No. 19 on the American Film Institute’s all-time comedies list), with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell at their fast-talking peaks in this variation on the Chicago-set  The Front Page.  Hildy Johnson (Russell) is a headstrong reporter torn between settling down with a bland Ralph Bellamy lookalike (Ralph Bellamy) and chasing one last wrongful-execution story for her editor/ex-husband Walter Burns (Grant). Rapid-fire laughs with side dishes of journalistic ethics and political corruption—just what we need. (The movie is available for free on a variety of platforms including here .)

Traditionally Shavuot celebrates the receiving of the Torah at Mt Sinai and is celebrated with dairy products such as cheese cake. It is a time for our Beth Emet community to come together for fun, learning and socializing. The program is varied and there are activities for families, teens and adults. Just choose from the buffet table on the website and click on the Zoom links for the programs you would like to attend.

Inspiring Sparks for Spiritual Self-Care

Words can soothe as well as inspire, and since we are in the midst of a pandemic, we need both! Through shared selections from personal essays and spiritual memoirs, we will talk about how reading and writing can provide us with solace and insight. Writing prompts will be offered for reflective writing as well.

Music for Isolated Seniors
During COVID-19 Stay-at-Home protocols, many people, particularly older adults, are confronting isolation. Students from the Music Institute of Chicago (MIC) would love to perform their music over video call or telephone to connect with isolated people during this unique time. If you or someone you know who is 65+ and would enjoy a music performance from an MIC student, please e-mail Victor at or call 812-219-8635.

Interesting Resources
BE Connected is an opportunity for groups with similar interests to come together as well as opportunities for conversation around various topics. What better way to engage with the Beth Emet community, try something new, and connect when we have a bit more time on our hands? Given our new reality, this initiative will start virtually, but we hope that this will continue once life returns to normal.

Each week you will receive a dedicated email with a listing of opportunities for the next two weeks. If you do not have access to a web camera for a video call, we will include phone numbers as well. And if you have an idea as we expand the reach of BE Connected, contact Marti Netler .

We look forward to seeing you very soon.
