Carver Center is grateful to our many friends, donors and
community partners who supported our efforts this past year.

Please take a look at just a few of our accomplishments.

We thank you and wish you all a very
Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.
JANUARY
A HUB FOR INFORMATION

Our community turns to Carver Center for important information and resources. Back in January, John Rodriguez, COVID-19 Outreach Specialist, and Gabriela Saraiva were here during Carver Market hours to provide education and resources, and to schedule appointments for vaccines to our Market clients.

Open Door Family Medical Centers continued their visits throughout the year on our Market days.
FEBRUARY
CARVER CENTER CELEBRATED BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Carver Center honored three exceptional members of our community, Tom Kissner, president of the Port Chester/Rye chapter of the NAACP, Tyree Welch, role model and mentor to Port Chester youth and David Brown, 12+ year Manager for the Carver Market at our Black History Month celebration on February 17th. MARCH
OUR TEEN CENTER OPENED

Our Teen Center re-introduced a robust selection of events and workshops. Examples included a Career Exploration and Financial Literary discussion and a workshop to help our teens learn about future career paths. Professionals from the health and science industries, and law enforcement were invited to meet with our teens. We enrolled 150 students in our Teen Center and provided one-on-one mentoring to 29 Carver Scholars.
APRIL
WE DANCED THE NIGHT AWAY AT OUR SPRING BENEFIT

Our Annual Spring Benefit on April 23 was a great success thanks to our event committee, Yvette Hammel (Chair), Laura Iverson, Molly Mahoney, Blair Metrailler, & Claire Steinberg, our Table Hosts, the 340+ guests who attended, and the many who raised their paddles to support our work. Our honorees for the evening included Tom Murphy and Children's Hope Chest.

We look forward to seeing you for our 80th on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Westchester Country Club.
MAY
DINNER @ NOON RETURNED

We welcomed back our very popular Saturday Dinner @ Noon program last Spring. Community members join us for a hot meal and socialization with friends and neighbors. Local faith-based organizations support our weekly events. Please check our website in January for future Saturday dates.
JUNE
THE WHEELS ON OUR NEW BUS

Carver Center became the proud owner of a new school bus! It has become a valuable resource for us throughout the year. We are using it to take our teens on many trips including college visits, and volunteer events. Where will our Carver bus go in 2023? Stay tuned!

Thanks to the A.E. Family Foundation and Impact100 for making this dream come true!
JULY
ENRICHMENT AND FUN THIS PAST SUMMER!

We partnered with the Port Chester School District's Summer C.L.A.S.S. program to offer a camp enrichment program to 173 middle school students.

Children split their days between the Middle School, where they received academic support and at Carver, where summer activities included swimming, music, S.T.E.M., and performing and creative arts.
AUGUST
CARVER'S INAUGURAL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR
HS SENIORS

We launched a scholarship program that provided $17,000 in college scholarships to six Port Chester High School graduating seniors.

Our scholarship recipients are attending accredited colleges and universities including SUNY Alfred, Manhattanville College, Mercy College, Monroe College and Morgan State University.
SEPTEMBER
RETAIL RECOVERY PROGRAM BRINGS MORE FOOD TO CARVER

Carver Center began piloting a new retail recovery program through Feeding Westchester. We are picking up approximately 1,300 pounds of food from retail locations, 3x a week. (Pictured left is Eucebio Chavarria, Carver team member.)

Through this program, we are able to provide 40% more food to the growing number of people who are coming to our Carver Market.
OCTOBER
WE CELEBRATED OUR GRADUATES

We held a joyful reception in October to recognize our Citizenship Program graduates. Over 80 adults have obtained their US Citizenships since federal courts reopened following the COVID-19 pandemic closures. Our Citizenship classes continue to have record enrollment.
NOVEMBER
CARVER MARKET NUMBERS

The Carver Market hosted its annual Thanksgiving distribution with help from many volunteers and community partners. We distributed 200 turkeys, 350 chickens, massive amounts of fresh produce and all the trimmings! Grants were awarded to support the expansion of the Carver Market so we are now doubling the square footage of the Market to create a more dignified shopping experience and adding more refrigeration so we can store more food and add additional hours to serve our community.
DECEMBER
FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM DELIVERS

This past year, our Food Services Program cooked and served approximately 250,000 nutritious meals to children enrolled in daycare and/or after school programs.
