BEDC's 2017 Annual Report celebrates another year of economic prosperity for Burlington. The report highlights local success and focuses on talent, land readiness and intensification, and business growth and entrepreneurship.
Burlington has had a decline in vacancy rates from 2016 welcoming over 100 new companies in 2017 and added1,345 new jobs.
TechPlace was another key area of success in 2017, with eight LaunchPad companies recruited, 4,200 visitors and over 80 events.

On June 7th
BEDC partnered with Export Development Canada for the 12th
annual presentation of Let's Talk Exports with Peter Hall, EDC Vice President and Chief Economist. Along with Peter's insight on the global economy and the key opportunities for Canadian businesses, attendees also heard about the impact of protectionism on Canadian exporters, operating in a world of higher interest rates, where the Canadian dollar is headed, and the local resources available to help grow their business. Following the keynote, attendees were invited to take part in a roundtable session with EDC staff.

TechPlace Welcomes GoWrench As Newest LaunchPad Company
|
TechPlace welcomes GoWrench Auto as their newest LaunchPad company. Hamilton native, GoWrench Auto, is the eighth company to be accepted into the Launchpad program and began their residency on May 30th. The GoWrench Auto team will occupy a designated section of hot desks until August 2018, when they will transition into a newly vacant LaunchPad office. Read more

Don't Miss Canada's Inaugural Innovation Corridor Summit On June 26th
Canada's Innovation Corridor Summit drives business development, local prosperity and global competitiveness through enhanced regional connectivity and collaboration. This year's Summit is on June 26th from 8:00am-4:00pm at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington. The Summit is an initiative of Canada's Innovation Corridor Business Council which represents the collective voices of more than 21,000 businesses, large and small.
