The vibrant and diverse community provides unique advantages to the businesses and residents that call it home, as revealed in BEDC’s 2018 Annual Report. This report highlights access to talent, land readiness, business growth and entrepreneurship.
BEDC Open House
Anita Cassidy, BEDC Acting Executive Director, unveiled the Report at BEDC's Annual Open House on May 29th at TechPlace. The event had over 100 guests in attendance and celebrated BEDC partners with engaging booths from Mohawk College, McMaster Executive Education, Sheridan College, Burlington Public Library and NUVO Network. The evening finished off with two Burlington business success stories from Rootree and ZippyJamz.
Leveraging Data & AI: A Practical Guide for Small & Medium Manufacturers
On June 24th , the Golden Horseshoe Manufacturing Network will be hosting an event in partnership with TechPlace; the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade; McMaster University Computing Infrastructure Research Centre; NRC-IRAP; and Ontario Centres of Excellence to give small and medium sized manufacturers the basics for implementing data analytics and AI in their businesses . 2019 Young Women In Leadership Program

TechPlace, Haltech, and BEDC teamed up for MP Pam Damoff's Young Women in Leadership (YWIL) Program. This program offers job-shadowing with local businesses in Halton for young women and gender non-conforming youth currently in high school, pursuing post-secondary education or just starting out in their careers. L et's Talk Exports 2019 with Export Development Canada’s Chief Economist, Peter Hall
On May 14th BEDC and EDC teamed up for a morning event including ample networking opportunities, an in-depth look at the 2019 global forecast and Q&A with local global exporting businesses. Connect with EDC and the Halton Global Business Centre to learn more about the resources available to help businesses looking to export.

Silicon Halton: TechConnect Event

Silicon Halton is a grassroots, industry-led, technology focused community of Freelancers, Solopreneurs, Entrepreneurs, IT Professionals, and Students. They host a number of events and peer-to-peer meetups each month with a packed summer schedule .

In January they teamed up with the Milton, Oakville, Burlington and Halton Hills Chambers, in partnership with Haltech, to host TechConnect Halton. The goal of this event was to to make sure Halton companies know how to leverage opportunities in the Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster.
