Summer Student Entrepreneur Program Launch Event

Meet us on the Lawn of City Hall on July 22nd to get to know the 2022 participants in BEDC's annual Summer Student Entrepreneur Program. Each of the participants have joined the program to start their own business for the duration of the summer in hopes of beginning their entrepreneurial journey and gaining the skills needed to  build a lasting business that they can run even when the program is done. Join us on the lawn where their journey begins!

32 Entrepreneurs Accepted into Enterprise Bermuda Program

The Enterprise Bermuda program has officially begun! The twelve-month incubation program supports local entrepreneurs and the development of their businesses. This year, with the expansion into the three EEZ's BEDC accepted 32 business into the program. Over the next 12 months BEDC and the Enterprise Bermuda Incubation Lead, Nikki Fagan of The Brand Lion, will guide them through the development process, which ensures the entrepreneurs get beyond the idea stage and start to bring their businesses to fruition.

A New Partnership is Formed with UN Women and the United Nations Development Program

BEDC in conjunction with the Government of Bermuda and the United Nations have launched the joint program, "Building Back Equal through Innovative Financing for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment." All entities will collaborate to to close the business financing gaps that particularly affect women, the youth, and people living with disabilities.

BEDC's Erica Smith Participates in Youth Town Hall Meeting

Following the recent announcement of Bermuda’s Youth Employment Strategy, Minister Jason Hayward hosted a Town Hall Meeting on June 23. The Minister was joined by Department of Workforce Development Director, Malika Cartwright, and BEDC's Executive Director, Erica Smith. The town hall was an opportunity for the public to ask questions and gather information on how the Youth Employment Strategy will support our youth in developing the ability to guide and lead our country's path into the future.

BEDC Helps to Facilitate Cyber Security Webinar Series

We were thrilled to join this collaboration and deliver this series of 9 webinars over nine months. The webinar series provided our stakeholders with valuable information about the importance of cybersecurity, its associated benefits and potential threats. During and after the pandemic, many entrepreneurs had to rely on the Internet to maintain a connection with their customers. Therefore, having industry experts provide advice, tips, and guidance on what to do to protect business and customer information was timely and necessary. READ MORE
