Year in Review: Four Highlights from 2022

Global Entrepreneurship Congress

Hosted in a different rising entrepreneurial city each year, the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) is four days of actionable intelligence, collaboration and collective action. It brings together thousands of voices from more than 200+ countries to participate in creating one inclusive global ecosystem by networking, learning, and sharing.

This year some BEDC Board Members, BEDC Staff, and Enterprise Bermuda incubatees visited the GEC in Riyadh to better understand how to support entrepreneurs here in Bermuda. The incubatees also networked with like-minded individuals and learned how to grow their businesses.

Enterprise Bermuda Program

The Enterprise Bermuda, launched in February 2018, is a free-of-charge twelve-month incubation program aimed at helping Bermuda’s start-ups get beyond the idea stage and start to bring their businesses to fruition. Initially, the BEDC could only accept eight participants due to a physically small incubator hub to house the entrepreneurs.

However, as the BEDC has expanded physically to include three additional Incubator Hubs in each of the Economic Empowerment Zones, we've increased that number from eight to nineteen entrepreneurs.

Three New Incubator Hubs

The BEDC officially opened the doors to all three Economic Empowerment Zone Incubator Hubs, welcoming support, guidance, and information to those who have already established businesses and those who wish to get started on that journey!

With the opening of the Offices in each of the EEZs, St. George's, Somerset & North East Hamilton, we have been able to expand support to nineteen entrepreneurs in our Enterprise Bermuda program. They will be housed in each of our 4 locations during their tenure in Enterprise Bermuda.

Commercial Kitchens Program

The BEDC has officially launched the Commercial Kitchens Program with the goal of providing interested entrepreneurs with an affordable, quality work environment to support their business start-up or expansion. At the same time aims to provide commercial kitchen owners with facility income they would otherwise not receive.

These kitchens are fully licensed and up to health code standards and can be rented out on a flexible basis (i.e., hourly, weekly, or monthly).
