Message from the President:

“Through our joint efforts, electric cooperatives and municipal utilities have taken on the challenging work of securing infrastructure investment funding to benefit local communities. BEL has been diligent in supporting projects that are durable, practical, and broadly appealing. We remain eager, as do our stakeholders, to see these impactful projects implemented.

As we look ahead to 2025, we are keeping our sleeves rolled up. We anticipate opportunities to evaluate what has been successful in advancing the benefits of the electric sector — and what has not. While some priorities may shift, our role remains as important as ever.

Our "just do it" attitude at BEL means that we spend much more time getting work done than talking about it, but if you foresee opportunities to work with BEL to achieve your goals, please don’t hesitate to reach out!”

-Keith Dennis, BEL President

Notable Successes in 2024

  • Advanced utilization of Direct Pay tax credits to enhance cost-effectiveness of clean energy investments by community-owned electric providers.

  • Completed a round of infrastructure planning in the Appalachian territories of GA, TN, NY, and PA — helping to secure $200M+ in Federal funding — and expanded our work into OH, NC, MS and AL through a five-year technical assistance award.

  • Held over a dozen collaborative state-level meetings & webinars featuring energy leaders from the US Senate, Federal and State Agencies, Industry, Tribal organizations, and Non-profits.

  • And so much more - that's just the tip of the iceberg of what the BEL staff, our bench of contractors, board members, and stakeholders have accomplished in 2024!
