This is Caleb.
Starting around the 2nd grade, he experienced God in a way that radically transformed his life and filled him with passion and purpose. Caleb was an eager kid who grew up with direction and focus. His viewpoint would often lead him to black and white conversations around God and God’s way. He was very zealous and his Bible-thumping nature was frequently on display to those around him.
Caleb’s journey in life eventually brought him to Pullman, Washington, where he met Marty and joined his first BEMA group. Over the course of the study he grew in knowledge and learned tools he could use to better know his God. Attending the group gave him new methods to use as he read his Bible and spent time with God.
As he discovered the truth that had been in the Word since the beginning, Caleb worked to follow God through the midst of what he thought was going to be a desert in his life. He had come to Washington State University feeling like he was giving up his dreams. His time in BEMA helped equip him with the things he needed to see how God was working around him.
God used Caleb’s time at WSU to smooth out the sharp edges he had developed as a hard-nosed, legalistic Christian. He learned instead to better empathize with both sides of a conversation and engage in discussion with his friends and neighbors where he once debated so zealously. Today Caleb and his wife continue to use what they learned from BEMA to enrich their own lives and share the truth God has stored up in his Word with others.
