A Season of Love and Companionship

BESTEMOR Multilingual Advisory, One Common Language: Love

The season of love and companionship for senior citizens is a time of rediscovery and renewal. As they age, seniors often find that love and companionship remain meaningful and enriching.

Embrace Love: Love has no age limit, and seniors can find new love or deepen existing relationships.

Ways to Get Started...

Say Yes to Community Life!

  • Retirement communities are naturally social, offering plenty of opportunities to meet someone special in a relaxed, friendly environment:
  • Group classes (art, fitness, cooking)
  • Resident Socials
  • Volunteering or Service activities
  • Morning coffee gatherings or happy hours

If you don’t live in a retirement community or aren’t ready for that lifestyle, you still have great options to build connections:

  • Visit your local senior or community center for events, dances, or classes
  • Join faith-based groups or adult education classes
  • Look for library-hosted clubs, public garden meetups, or walking groups
  • Join groups for your favorite activities like Bridge, Golf, or Pickleball

A message from our Founder,

Julie Hvitfeldtsen,

My Mamma used to say that

"The older you get, the faster time flies!"

Evidently, she was right about time flying! It's almost Valentine's Day. Thank you all for your patience as I just now get the February Newsletter out.

Here is a picture of my husband and me at a Valentine's party at an assisted living community in Queen Anne. They wined and dined us as a way to say Thank You for bringing some wonderful seniors to their community.

Keeping a healthy work-life balance is my focus this year. As I help my clients and my new team members learn to help their clients, I can either become overwhelmed or pace myself. A delay in the newsletter was caused by choosing to pace myself.

Wishing you a Season of Love and Happy Memories!

Julie & Mark

It's Time to be Proactive and not Reactive!

When families wait too long to plan for senior care, loved ones often become stressed, confused, and overwhelmed when a sudden change occurs. A fall, illness, or memory loss can quickly turn into a crisis — forcing rushed decisions during an already emotional time.

Early warning signs are the right time to start planning. Talking about senior care may feel uncomfortable, but waiting until a crisis often makes choices more difficult and stressful than they need to be.

Planning ahead allows seniors to be part of the conversation and gives families time to explore options, compare communities, and prepare emotionally and financially. Choosing senior housing or memory care should never be rushed or left entirely to adult children during an emergency.

Being proactive means making thoughtful decisions together — before panic sets in.

If you or a loved one is noticing early changes, now is the time to start the conversation.

If you’re unsure how to begin, you don’t have to do it alone. Our team is here to listen, guide, and help you explore options at your own pace - so when change comes, your family is prepared with confidence and care.

Julie's Daddy, Arnfinn Hvitfeldtsen was born and raised in Alesund, Norway, where he bagan his journey as a commercial fisherman, living in Ballard, WA when he met her Mamma, Betty.

Ålesund, Norway has a rich fishing history that dates back to the Stone Age, with the town becoming a significant hub for the herring fishery in the 1950s and 60s.

Cured lox has roots in Scandinavian cuisine, particularly in Norway, where traditional methods of preserving fish, such as salting and smoking, date back to the Viking age. In Ålesund, as in other coastal areas, salmon was often cured to extend its shelf life and enhance its flavor, becoming a staple in local diets and influencing culinary practices worldwide.

Julie's Family Favorite: Salmon Lox
